Project: Learn and teach my community about Financial Literacy
(Teaching or leadership experience project)

Reason: By doing this project I hope to enlighten my community and environment to learn about their spending, investments, and also about business and economics. This project will enable me to present my learning of Financial Literacy to educate my peers to help them reach their financial success

Through PhreshPhilly and their partnership with Prof. Kieth W. Weigelt and his Building Bridges To Wealth program, a program at the Wharton School of Business of University of Pennsylvania. I have been given an opportunity to boost my community's knowledge of their financial status, and help improve upon their use of financial institutions in their daily lives.

"Time" by Roger Bracy

My First Project - Medium

Thinking about what story to base this last english benchmark on I was clueless wasting my time procrastinating. I waited, until I came across this video. I was doing my regular rounds of internet surfing. Through a long stretch on Facebook I discovered a video that spark this idea about time. A young man about the age of 23 from Harlem, New York was speaking on time. He told the viewers that they have 84,600 seconds a day to live. He then compared it to the fanatical aspect saying, if you had 84,600 dollars in your bank account every day that you’d spend it as much as you could each day and get the most out of those 84,600 dollars. He concluded that time works the same way, our 84,600 seconds we get each day should be used to get the most out of each day.

Rolling on this train of information my mind arose, as I was looking over twitter and I notice an image of a clock. Now the clock in this picture was getting stretched in two directions. One side was easy to figure out, common apps we use everyday like a phone call Facebook or Instagram. The other side of the photo let the viewer know that there was a person that  the clock (representative of the time) belonged to. All of this fell into my theme of ways we waste time which is actually one of the most important and FREE qualities of our lives as humans.

These are the things I hoped to get the viewer (along with myself ) to gain during this Story "Time":

Reason:

Time is valued to some and overlooked by others.

We as human are taught directly out of the womb, what day and time we are born.

As humans, universally, we count how many years, months, days, and seconds we have spent on this earth

Time is very valuable because time isn’t refundable.

Time isn’t just paid at an hourly rate. Time is all around us, anywhere you venture there is time posted up walls wrist and cellphones.

Mission:

The Relationship between time and humans will have analyzed into a story about how we concede, sponsor, and  dissipate it our everyday lives

I will have story full of real people and their interviews on how they view their time on this earth.

I take selfies to remember the best moments of my life. I love taking selfies because it captures my moment, everyplace, every person, and everything in them has meaning to me. It is a way of capturing me by the beautiful thing that surround me. I am able to capture myself in this world with selfies. In a way it is a constant reminder of who I am and where I'm from. Every selfie holds its unique value to the taker beacuse that's what makes them. Some selfies show emotion while other show creativity. When I take selfies I feel like it can place me back in that specific day, time and place. Along with the people around me, I can watch myself grow in the selfies I take. Lastly, selfies, believe it or not, create the advantage of taking photographic art to the next level by having the photographer in his or her vision. People have asked me why do I take selfies? The only answer to that is through the selfies themselves because, each one I take can show a different answer. I take selfies because they're guide to my evolution, a creative way to view my past, and a resplendent way to represent the wonderful people in my life.

Write to Connect

Posted by Roger Bracy in Reading, Writing, and Rising Up - Rami - B on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 9:49 am
I write to connect my life to others. I share my experiences through texts and thought to them to spark their new ideas. I connect writing to my family, I feel that I come from a family of poets they're always writing they never seem to run out of words. I connect to my emotions to my writing, I can relax and get my feelings out with words. I write to connect to my inner talent as a writer, to challenge myself to be better than what I am.

School District Process Paper Rbracy

Posted by Roger Bracy in English 3 - Pahomov on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 9:27 pm

We were assigned the Philadelphia's issue of the school closings, and how this is a problem in the community. The Save Our School Campaign we, was directly designed and produced to inform the teen's over social networks about Philadelphia's School District closures. My group and I took the approach of creating knowledge based social networking campaign.

In my group we assigned each other creative ways to spread our message.Reviewing this campaign's, overall production and effectiveness, the real impact my group made was strong for the 2 day we had promoted it. We had our target set on teen through social networks, we found and told them through our video Facebook like page and website. The Facebook like page, made by Jameaka, supported our want to get teens involved in saving there schools. The page ended up getting multiple of like around 26, we are proud and grateful that those 26 are taking the time to view and look at our campaign. The YouTube video, edited by Tamatha, was effective as it gave the viewer of the video a solution to the problem and communicating this through a visual. This video had 28 views in the two days promoted, this was effective as it also linked two the website and Facebook like page. Finally Amanda and I were assigned to create a website which consisted of our purpose, effective media, and interview to tell our audience.

The campaign was in some ways a success and sometime lack a few small components that could have made a difference. Producing a campaign isn't hard than it may seem as our Campaign, got it's views, but were they the targeted viewers? Getting the campaign's information out there was the hardest part. I felt if my group and I focused on way that teen are attracted too, we could have had our focus audience and had more of a productive campaign.

The campaign was a success, and with a few small components changed, it could have made the difference that it was supposed to make. Our group did a great job portraying the website YouTube video and Facebook like page. We took in the fact that we may have not reached all our goals, but we can and are able to find the flaws of our project. Overall, I enjoyed working with my group and felt like we used the most productive way to reach and spread information on the school district closings, by using social networks.

Herold, Benjamin, comp. "District wants to close 37 schools and relocate or reconfigure dozens more."Soundcloud. Public School Notebook, Dec 2012. web. 19 Feb 2013. <http://thenotebook.org/blog/125429/philadelphia-school-district-wants-close-37-schools-relocate-or-reconfigure-dozens-more>.

This source talks about how the district, in winter of 2012 proposed a 37 school closing effective because of financial reasons. Some information it includes is how a lot of neighborhoods and parents of the district are outraged and sad to see the district take this turn of events. In one of "Public School Notebook's" Podcast in December, information and stats were given on the school closings. I will be using the Podcast's comments on what's problem this is creating for much of the Philadelphia neighborhoods. This source is reliable because it has real responses and reasons for the school district 37 school closings.

This source is helpful in ways as it shows the School District of Philadelphia proposal and overall plan for the school transformation. The document claims to help the school district as it will benefit the future of students. One of the benefits, is that the district choose to merge lower test scored schools, together the two merging schools can raise test scores. Also with the amount of kids transferring into charter schools the school district claims to not be able to run its current budget with the empty facilities. Thus they claim their budget and learning environments need to change.

This source talks about how the district, is destroying the traditional neighborhood schools of Philadelphia, with proposed a 37 school closing. Some information it includes is how it's not surprising to see the district do this as they have use same tactic of defunding. I will be using the letter as the teacher prospectives, and their comments on what's problem this is creating for much of the school districts neighborhood. This source is reliable because it has real responses from the president of the teachers union of philadelphia on the school district 37 school closings.

This source talks about how the district's Superintendent William R. Hite Jr., promising changes within the district to lower the deficit of the budget. With proposed a 37 school closing, he claims the district will save 28 million over 5 years. I will be using the source as the Superintendent prospective, and his comments on the pro's of his plan. This source is reliable because it has real responses from the Superintendent of the Schools District of philadelphia.

Interview with Mrs Laufenberg - How have you or your co workers within the Philadelphia school district, been affected by the budget of the district?

Budget cuts have caused a number of decisions to be made that affect teachers.  First, at SLA we needed to cut the budget and decided to reduce the number of Spanish classes taught by a teacher, replacing it with Rosetta Stone.  While this was not a great option, the budget left us few good options.  Additionally, the school has been running without a librarian for over two years.  This loss of resource for the teachers and students is noticeable and leaves us with a void for creating a vibrant space for media exploration.  Finally, the constant cuts have forced transfers, layoffs and shuffling of staff throughout the district that generally destabilizes the functionality of all district schools, which in turn makes it a less effective space for teachers to work with students.

- When you heard of the 37 schools closing in the district, what was your reaction on this, and why was that?

I felt like the number was high.  I was concerned about the confusion, pain and chaos that it will introduce into so many school settings that are already having difficulty with positive momentum.  I also wondered what other creative alternatives we could be pursuing so as to avoid this large number of closures.

I am always concerned when neighborhood schools are on the chopping block for closure.  Many times the school is the anchoring institution in the neighborhood and the loss of that can affect the entire neighborhood.

- Having worked in the school district of Philadelphia, over the years what would you change about the district decisions in choosing it’s leaders and making financial decisions?

I would like to see the district and the union be much more transparent about the decision making processes that impacts so many of Philadelphia's residents.  Since the SRC is not elected, there is not true responsiveness to an electorate and I think that it has led to some poor communication and transparency.  I will say, that as of late, I am encouraged that perhaps the district is headed in a more positive direction under the leadership of Dr. Hite. In terms of choosing leaders, I think Philadelphia is a particularly challenging place to hire for... huge district with massive money trouble.  Not many people are going to have a resume that speaks to our serious needs.

- (Answer only if you have background outside the district) Having worked outside of the school district of Philadelphia, what differences have you notice about school districts outside of philadelphia?

I have worked in three other school districts in three different states and they were all quite diverse.  Each state has its own set of policies and procedures and then as it bubbles down to the local level, even more variety occurs.  One major difference was that the governing boards were elected in every other school system.  Having a school board that is responsive to the electorate is important, in my opinion, and not having that in Philadelphia creates a set of issues.  Philadelphia is by far the largest district I've worked in and navigating the large bureaucratic tangle at 440 is exasperating.  There will always be levels of bureaucracy, but the version I find in Philadelphia was particularly challenging to interact with.

One thing I enjoy about Philadelphia is the ease with which an experienced teacher can transfer into the system and be compensated for their years of teaching experience.  This was not the case in two of my previous districts.  Additionally, our health benefits were superior to those that I was extended in my previous teaching placements.  Finally, the overall level of monetary compensation far exceeded the levels in my other districts.

I joined the district and stayed through some incredibly tumultuous years.  I am hopeful that with a new superintendent at the helm, the district will start to stabilize and start functioning like an effective public service.

Sterling Perry and Roger Bracy "Space Jams"

Roger Bracy and Sterling Perry
"Space Jams"

As sneaker collectors my partner and I have always talked about additions to shoes that can make them better and in some cases worse. When we found out we could put lights on our own custom made sneaker we immediately came up with the concept of a light up Jordan shoe.

There was a wide range of shoes that could have been used, but we wanted ours to have a meaning behind it. Through our research we found that there was a Jordan shoe named the "Space Jams" inspired by his movie. We figured when someone thinks of space they think of stars and moon which can be sources of light.

We went out and purchased a replica of the shoe and began to put in our ideas and apply what we learned about circuits to make a shoe that doesn't look as if we stuffed a bunch of wired inside and made a robotic shoe. But a fashion piece of art.

Picture coming soon... (technical difficulties)

Close up 2

Posted by Roger Bracy in Advanced Art - Hull on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 3:02 pm
Since we couldn't go outside to draw the landscape we drew what we seen. I seen a book bang on the table so I drew it. This book bag was simple nothing to much. I first sketched the bag and made sure it looked like the bag. So then I grabbed some paint, since the bag was blue, black, and yellow writing. I started to paint my outline and things. I did gentle strokes so the painting can look neat and inside of the sketch lines. When I was done I was satisfied.

Well, I love nature, and how trees look. So I decided to draw a leaf, but be creative. So I drew a leaf that was dead on one side and a live on the other side. I used pastels to draw this picture. I made sure I was extra creative and original. The greens show how live and vibrant the plant is and the brown show death or close to death. This was one of the best picture/ projects i did because it was so original and fun.

Abstract emotion

Posted by Roger Bracy in Advanced Art - Hull on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 2:46 pm
Getting this assignment abstract emotion was challenging, I didn't know how to come at this project. But I started to think of my favorite colors, which is blue. Blue usually symbolize sadness and some type of depressing emotion. So I thought of what you do when you sad or depressed and that's cry. So a eye is where tears come from and Is tarted to paint. I used white, blue, and black. To lighten up the blue or darken the blue. I had fun creating this project, and how I did it.

Humility Portfolio 2012

Posted by Roger Bracy in English 2 - Block on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 8:24 am

Through out this year our class has explored plentiful amount of topic and themes that come up in our society today. Openly we expressed our understandings to these ideas through numerous ways as a class. We often took parts in role-playing, trials, competitions, advertising, poetry and much more. Since the year is winding down, I’ve come to some generalizations on our amazing year in Mr. Block’s class. Firstly, we are coming into our own, and I realized that expressing one’s self can lead you in the path of finding out whom you are. Second we have done a ton of collaboration and I can see that collaborating can help me tell my story. Overall Mr. block’s class has shown us to think openly to the world around us, and help us to find a deeper meaning in things we know and don’t yet understand.

Over our 10th grade year in History and English, expression of our selves was quite prominent in our assignments. One of the assignments created for our expressions was the evolvement in Art in the Open piece. The piece took place in a personally selected area, where our minds could be open to using everyday structures and objects to create movements that could show a new way of looking at the space. The process for creating this was difficult for my group and I, so I came to the general understanding about how express our selves

“…What helped me the most was letting my self go and not being afraid to make mistakes, but instead learn from them.” (moodle post on the art in the open experience)

The experience Leah Stein Dance Company gave my class and I was really generous. I’m grateful to have worked with such well-polished dancers and will not hesitate to join an opportunity like this again. Expression in the form of poetry was a big influences our year in 10th grade English and History. For example the somebodies poem that we had to write we got to express how we felt about people in power, and what stereotypes we have of people that our in power. As a class we came up with our own version of the poem.

“Who don’t speak dialects, but speak languages

Who don’t have superstitions, but have religions

Who don’t create handicrafts, but create art

Who don’t have folklore, but have culture

We all want to be somebodies

Are the somebodies really anything without you?”

(Moodle post of poem the “Sombodies”)

Through out our 10th grade year we explored other poetry techniques and found way to express our selves as we wrote them. Focusing on objects for the piece, I choose to write of the mirror. In the poem I didn’t just write what I saw, but I found a deeper meaning and then expressed it through out the poem. In one stanza I wrote,

“We find

something

dear to you,

you haven't

clearly viewed,

the structure of the cheek,

the roundness of the nose,

the brownness of the eye,

and yes

they do

blink back”

(Mirror Poem poetry wiki)

It is very common to find pieces like this in our Poetry wiki, where we all collaborated in reading and editing each other’s work. So, while thinking back on the whole year the many ways we have decide to collaborate, decide things, and give deeper insight, gave us a way to express ourselves this year.

While 10th grade year had a bunch of individual projects, we did most of the work assigned to us by Mr. Block by collaborating. Not only did we collaboration help us it also gave us ways to express our story. As we moved along in the year we came across an assignment in our language unit of English. This assignment was to list and write out all our “Roles Rules and Responsibilities” that we either hear every day from someone in our lives.

“…this is how you introduce yourself to someone in power, with a firm handshake.”

(Roles Rules and Responsibilities moodle post)

As I wrote, I could collaborate with my classmates as they too had similar lives, I would’ve never known that if I hadn’t worked along with them.

Conjugating verbs, and knowing your vocabulary is important for this. Overall this project gave me insight on how to use verbs in Spanish, and how it easily helps me explain my times in my life.

Clear Object: Roger Bracy

Posted by Roger Bracy in Advanced Art - Hull on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 7:26 am
For this assignment we had to sketch a clear object using charcoal It's difficult to shade but once you get the outline of glass it gets really easy. My first steps were to darken the sketch out the shape. Then created shadows and reflections where the lights were hitting off the glass. At the end it was a good project.

Roger Bracy's Language Auto Biography

Posted by Roger Bracy in English 2 - Block on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 9:08 pm

Introduction:
The purpose of this project was to inform us on the idea that we all speak a language but it may show certain things about our identity. Throughout this process we’ve have talked of ways that we have language identity in our city’s, family’s, and home’s. Our assignment was to connect the language we use in our every day lives to create scenes for a larger idea, thus making our Language Auto Biography. When I wrote this the hardest part was connecting this to a larger idea but I think I’ve solved this when I made my draft.

Language Auto Biography:

I waited at the door to our hotel room with the fresh smell of groceries in my hands. I was listening and enjoying my family on a hot august day. I watched and learned a ton of language in the south. Coming from Philadelphia on they way here traveling through the states like Maryland and North Carolina the rest stop filled with strangers. At McDonald's in Virginia I found my self in the sea of dialects and accents.  During the ride we enjoyed each other’s company while we talked watch and laughed the whole ride there. During vacation I notice change in voice almost if I’ve changed who I was.

I rolled the red luggage cart into room 220 along with the groceries we’d bought from the store. Fighting through all the hugs, kisses, and handshakes of my cousins’ aunts and uncles. Unloading the cart in relief we were finally here it was officially summer for me and I couldn’t wait to get on the beach. My aunt called me in to the well-lit kitchen.

Strolling in the room while she held up a card, she gave me a look and reported. “Now this is your room card don’t lose it Rog or your butt is mine!” Now coming from the high raised eyebrow on her forehead I could tell she meant business. She quick asked “are you sure you can take care of this card cause we won’t get another.”  I grab it quick trying to run out the room, I herd her yell from out the side of my ear. “Yall better not loose it!”  Some of her accent show for minute as a walked away she changed who she was to get her point across

While I’ve noticed this from my aunt many times, I’ve also notice how she would act in her profession. Overhearing a conversation of her while she called back to her job in Pittsburgh. She seemed to present herself using Standard English which could mislead people. While everyone has an accent, but we all try to relate to people using Standard English. Why is this? Maybe we have indicated that a structured language is a language of power and we can use it to get people to understand, listen, and comprehend in the real world.

Not saying that the accents can be misunderstood, but I’m stating that we use Standard English to get our points across and to get our thoughts heard. Power is power and we need this survive our everyday jobs and lives in the business world. In a article written by James Baldwin If Black English Isn’t a Language, Then Tell Me, What Is? (1979). Baldwin stated about the language equaling power, “...and connects one with, or divorces one from, the larger, public, or communal identity”. The way my aunt change her accent to relate to a client she really shows that the modern world takes advantage this language in thought that they can control people. I wondered what her client would think if she had talked with her Pittsburgh/ southern dialect would the call be totally different deal.

That summer when I noticed she wasn’t talking like my mom, her own sister, I started to understand she had some sort of dialect came in her voice. It seemed so foreign even though she was my aunt, she lives in Pittsburgh and me, in Philadelphia:; How could 5 hour distance have such a impact on the way a person talks? Seeing that this is true I can also talk to my grandmother, who is currently living in Georgia and when she arrived to our room she greeted us on as she could “So how y’all doin?”

Being with me grandmother is always like I’m meeting her for the first time not only because of the distance we live away from each other also by her accent. When I usually hear a southern accent at first glance I start thoughts of farms and a rural hot area where the people aren’t well educated, James Baldwin’s theory, of Black English evolving in the south during slavery, show how the accents of many came about. He stated that during the trip here, the whole culture of African Americans was taken away along with their languages. So using the English that they have come quick to learn during there time in slavery they would soon that structured dialect, that almost every white person in the south knew, into Black English; Something that the slave owners couldn’t understand until later after. My grandmother talked more of the English version of that but it still occurred to me that’s where her accent originated.

Our Language Identity we can find in our homes throughout our many lines of family but it always finds it’s way back to us when we get lost in the professional world. In the powerful world of jobs and professions we struggle with holding our true language identity because we some dialects are frowned upon in the eyes of power so we learn to talk the same. When we really dig deep enough i think we can really find our true language identity, but only if we take breaks from our jobs and just spend time to interact with the people around you.

Clear Glass Beaker

Posted by Roger Bracy in Advanced Art - Hull on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 6:06 pm
Ms. Hull assigned to us that we needed to make a clear 3-D sketch of an object. The video she showed us for an example, had a perfect drawling of a clear object. It looked like difficult process in the way it was drawn. The first thing I did was get my background color in first on my paper and then thought how will I create this object and make it clear. I started with the rim of my 3-D glass beaker.

I drew dark strokes where I saw solid glass and erased where I saw light in the glass, which started to form the beaker. Then I started to blend the color outside with the lighter inside of my beaker. I tried to The difficult part was when I was trying to draw light in the beaker, because sometimes it was hard to find. So when I was done my beaker i found little details that i found along the glass like the line on the object. I really like this project because it dealt with perspective.

This project was basically about what we did this summer, and use what we have learned in class this quarter to express are experiences in the past tense. We had to find photo and explain who was in them, when they were taken, and where were you at. Then decide and make a project reflecting your descriptions of your work.

The descriptions were easy to do because they were of my family which makes it easier to explain.

imovie helped me a lot to make my project look as good as it does. this was also similar to use.

Recording gave me some trouble, trying to make my speech clear and loud was the main difficulty for me.

Peer edits didn't help me as much I did some edits by myself. I think as a class we could do better on critiquing each others work.

How did you apply the SLA Core Values to your project?

Inquiry- we were questioned and we answered “Qué hice el verano pasado”

Research- we found pictures of the past figured out where and when they were taken.

Presentation- I used imovie, added pictures, and voiced over with garageband

Collaboration- we all critiqued all of our projects to make them better.

Reflection- I looked over what I've put out as a final project and feel like I've done a great job with the concept.

I learned to use the passed tense of some Spanish words (basically conjugated)

I also learned more uses of iMovie.

What I would do differently is go through and edit twice and make sure different eyes see my work, so it's not only me critiquing my work.

I did enjoy this project because of the process I felt it was a good beginning benchmark for the start of the year.

Pipeline Monologue Project

Are My Hands Clean?
(written by Roger Bracy)

Every time I clock into my job I wonder, how all this oil I’m extracting is really making my hands any cleaner then they really are?

(Grabbing my gloves and jumpsuit off the rack)

Working for a job that is extracting too much of the tar sand here in Canada and is overflowed with oil, they say they have a plan to move it to a United States refinery in Texas. I’ve been working with Shell to provide for my wife and kids back home, by mining the tar sands of Canada, which are not a pretty site to behold. Usually more of a barren land without nature, some say lands wealth, but I see nothing but destruction of our earth. Plus building a full proof pipeline through 6 states seems impossible to many workers and not just me. Just this past summer while shipping oil through the pipeline placed in Montana, the oil from Exxon exposed major spills through out the pipeline. Causing the land around it to become devastated with oil ruining the Yellowstone River and contaminating their major water source. I can’t imagine anything worst then building one through 6 well populated US states, and even guarantee that it won’t leak and cause big problems around those areas. I wonder am I contributing to these acts since I’m currently working for shell my hand can’t be as clean as I think they are. Causing destruction to the earth just to make an honest dollar and provide for my family. I wish I was in a higher position so I could do something better for this abundance of oil, there has to be another way out of this mess; but seeing as though I’m just a worker what can I do. Losing my job couldn’t be an option because the wealth around here is made through the trade of oil. Working with oil makes me feel that every day we take for granite our earth’s resources to make a profit, but all we are doing is soiling the ground that we eat, drink, and sleep off of.

Jail of Opinions

(written by Roger Bracy)

(Sitting against cold wall in Washington D.C. Jail looking through the bars of the cell staring at the Poster of Barack Obama)

Back in 2008 I chose Barack Obama to be my president of the United States, now that the keystone pipeline bill is getting pass by congress we can now see why we chose him to be our leader. He can save us from being a country that only cares of money and energy, to being the country that is willing to make the right decisions for our environment. I’m sitting in a cellblock in Washington D.C. jail, not because I’ve done something wrong only because I’ve spoken my opinion, yelling through the outer gates of the White House. Like many others I sit here because our government care only about profit and will stop at nothing to get their top dollar. They only are proving this when they decided to pass this bill for the formation of a mile lone pipeline that would run from southwest Canada through 6 state well-populated states to a refinery in Texas. I’ve seen the BP oil spill of the gulf and read of how it effected their waterways and killed animals and sea life. At this point I believe we are almost reaching a point where we have a choice to make, to save our earth or make a profit off of it. To me this choice is obvious save the earth we need to take care of our planet instead of building a pipeline that would be prone to leaks and spills that would affect our earth. Obama decision could be game over for the environment or a lucky save that would help our days on earth stretch a little longer. This jail cells are cold, but if I’m ever going to get my opinion heard I have to keep protesting the Keystone XL pipeline.

My Land

(written by Rose Knibbe)

(Talking to a truck dealer, given him the tomatoes, and complaining about the pipeline)

“He’s just some environmentalist person who happens to be living in Texas.”  That’s probably what some people think when they hear my story. But it’s not true. I’ve lived here all my life.

(Passes box of tomatoes to the driver as he starts to pack them into his truck to sell.)

Once I was old enough I bought my old land, and started my family on that land. Where I live had never been a problem and it had always been my land until TransCanada decided to show up one day. They randomly showed up on my land, I wouldn’t have even known they were there unless I had seen the stakes they had placed through out my property, later that month I received a letter in the mail asking for my permission to look at my property. To bad for them, I had already pulled out the stakes and made up my mind that I wouldn’t be a part of this. A couple months latter I received another letter telling me that if I didn’t accept they would take me to court. Of course I quickly accepted and let them come under the conditions that they would give me a 24 hour warning and that I would be with them every time. But they only followed through on that agreement once. After that time I would find them on my land claiming it must be a misunderstanding of some sort. Now I’m not just being an over protective landowner. I have concerns that are legitimate. I’m this pipeline ends up happening it will take up 50 ft. of my land. Once the pipeline is placed that land can never be replanted. There is also the strong possibility of erosion from the pipe rusting. Lastly the pipeline would be harmful to many people due to the fact that the pipelines have to be heated. This is a bad thing because it will affect the grounds temperature and plants are very sensitive to ground temperature. Altogether there is another side to the Keystone XL pipeline that TransCanada and our government it not telling us.

(Passes the last box to the man and the truck driver responds with a solemn node and tells him he understands what he's going through.)

What to Do?

(written by Rose Knibbe)

“There seems to be a lot of controversy over this matter sir” “Do you really think risking our environment is worn the money?” Questions and questions are asked to me about this project. The Keystone XL pipeline could possibly be the most controversial project I’ve worked on yet. This project started out with only benefits in my mind. Think about it, our economy is going through one a huge crisis. We need whatever help we can get to boost our economy. Why don’t people just see it that way? This project will provide 20,000 high wage jobs. Not to mention the amount of money that our nation will gain from this. The tar sands have so much oil that we can depend on it being around and providing us oil for at least a hundred years. This will give us more energy security then we have had in the past. As an organization we are dedicated to minimizing environmental impact. The possibilities of a spill are highly unlikely and if they do spill we understand that it is our full responsibility to clean up. Also we understand our responsibility for an alternative water supply if ground wells are affected. Why don’t people see the positive things this project has? Have they completely ignored the fact that pipelines are the safest, most reliable economical and environmental way to transport oil? I just wish people would look at the other side of the matter and see that there are positive things this project could bring to the table.

Pipeline

(written by Roger Bracy and Rose Knibbe)

That little bird, with its hatching eggs, doesn’t know that soon that tree will be along one of the biggest pipelines in the U.S. The future for this bird is not going to be bright while I’m around. There is so much controversy over me. There are environmentalists who don’t want me to be around and then there are the planners of this project. They act as though I am there new best friend. I am the keystone XL pipeline. To be honest I am a little bugged that no one has asked me my opinion on this project. They probably just assume I want to be placed on strangers land. But if they asked me I would tell them I didn’t know how I feel about this project despite the fact its revolved around me. Sure of course I want to exist but is that all worth sacrificing peoples land? I would need a lot of up keep and I can’t tell if they would be able to take care of my high demands. Seeing as Trans Canada is trying to make me 1,700mi long, I can’t remember the last time they built one of my pipes this long. Also the pressure that is put on me to 800,000 barrels of hot crude oil is just too much not to leak. The area I’m around is counting on me to keep their waterways clean, if I do leak they will never forgive me. Plus laying my pipeline would create erosion around the land and kill and disrupt the environment.

Descriptive Essay: Trust In Family

Posted by Roger Bracy in English 2 - Block on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 6:33 pm
“Wake up wake up” The eagerness inside me filled as the smell of pine needles and a shinning sun rushed into my room. It was Christmas, I rushed down the stares eye wide as bus and in surprise to find out which of the big red shining boxes were mine. Almost slipping on the bottom step, my little body flung to the gift of my parents. Ripping into the boxes, not caring where the pieces would land, although opening the first present wasn’t my greatest joy. A Mature and well living elder woman, crept down our stairs, to see her grand children, and watched me open her gifts. One of the only times I see her is during the Christmas. She greeted me with a “good morning” and with the biggest smile glued to here face. Not very often did I get to see my grandmother, as she lives in South Carolina. I always cherished these moments with her, watching and learning from her. Slippers robe and a bright face, she rubbed me on the back and observed the trash my sister and I had made.
Times like these make me realize one thing I’m lucky. I’m lucky too have people who love me, people who care and cherish the times they have with me. Holidays bring us together too catch up on the events that we’ve been through.  Grandmother although wise and mature always finds ways to make me feel bight inside when I’m with her.
Drawn to the smell of the soul food I arrived with my family into my grandmother’s house. Headed strait toward the kitchen, we passed the living room, with a set of couches and a lone piano. Passing by the well lit dinning room, my mouth watered and eye peeked to see what types food my aunts and grandmother had made. Arriving in the kitchen we all greeted each other as if we hadn’t seen each other in years. Long kisses on the forehead and hugs from my aunts, along with the strong grip hand shake from my uncles. Since everyone had now arrived my family decided once again it was time to give thanks on this special day. Once in the dinning room the crowded room got quite as one started to give thanks. As my Aunt Kimmy spoke her words, they were true as she told us that my cousin Vernon, who was placed in Afghanistan, was alive and well. As she finished one tear rolled down her cheek I knew she missed him. As if a spotlight fell on me it arrived at my turn, I looked around at my relatives smiling and waiting for me to go. My mind was blank as a paper with no ink, I peered out once again at my family but this time looking at my grandmother, she nodded. Then spoke “ Go a head, speak your mind so it will be from the heart.” I did just that thanking my mother and father for there guidance through out my life. I was thankful for the meal and ride that I got to the school bus everyday from my grandparents. As my turn ended, I thought to myself what my grandmother had told me had in fact worked, and what I was thankful for was true to the heart, and they accepted it. Knowing that if I had said something completely different they would’ve acknowledged my voice anyway. You can always rely on family to have your back.
Some may think twice about seeing family on a holiday because they might not be on good terms with one or two members of their family. As far as my family goes, I believe we are healthy family because we can have good times and bad times but still leave each other happy. Having this strong bond between a group people is fantastic, having someone to lean on when times are hard. I have been given a gift and sometimes I may abuse it.
Red lights beaming out the back window, we stop in front of the school. Glimpsing through the window, almost fogging up from the heat of the air conditioner, I rubbed the glass with my sleeve. Then I look up to an “Alright Buddy” from my grandfather signifying we had arrived at the school. Struggling to make it out the back seat, I hulled my blue backpack out the car. Closing the door my grandmother spoke those same words, “Do you want me to walk you inside?” Quickly as possible I replied with a shaking of my head, “No.” But she insisted to proceed out the car to fix my jacket and hat. Straitening my clothes, I disrespectfully told her, “I have it, stop” brushing her elderly hands off of my jacket. She then asked, “Do you know how to get to your classroom? Maybe I should walk you there.” This being my third year at GFS, a private school with a huge campus, I could understand why she would think I would get lost. I was scared that if she guided me to the classroom I would look a certain way to my peers. What would they think of me having a 75-year-old woman walk me to class? Maybe that I lived with her and not my parents, or they might have thought I was scared to walk on my own. In my head at the time this was a risk wasn’t ready to take, so insisted to keep her here in the parking lot where no one could judge me. Cold and mean spirited I told her once again, “I could walk by my self, and you can go home now.” She gave me an agitated face and waved “Alright I see you back here after school.” Blowing kiss as they drove she made me reach my highest point of humiliation. Why was I so embarrassed of my grandmother who cares what others think. This was not the real me, I love my family why was I so disrespectful?
Wishing that those days of school went away, I regretted what I did to my grandmother. I was embarrassed by my own family. She was just looking out for my well being, and I shunned her away like she didn’t belong. I was making assumptions on how people would react to her, when she really had good intentions for me. Embarrassment should not lead you to disrespect your family.  Your family’s intentions are always good and sometimes you should just let the embarrassments go and allow them to take care of you.

Short Reflection on the year

Posted by Roger Bracy on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 4:54 pm
What do you feel your portfolio says about you as a 9th grade English student? What are we as viewers supposed to "get"/understand about you when we see your work?

It was a great year working with Mrs. Dunn, she taught me very well. I feel as the year progressed I have become a stronger writer in the way that I can now write longer passages without complaining or telling myself I can’t do this. In my writing I think you will find my views on certain things and also my writing shows I’m not just your average 9th grade student I’m something more

What do you consider to be your strengths in English? What are your weaknesses? What would you still want to work on?

My strengths I would say that I have many stories and ideas prepared before I write which I think help me go along as I write

What is the piece you are most proud of, and why?

My quarter 3 benchmark, because It shows the writer that I’ve become throughout the year.

We write to express ourselves and to kind of get your ideas and feelings down on paper. We write to influence and help teach others on our experiences. The point of writing is to express yourself and your ideas throughout paragraphs, poems, or songs.

If you really knew me…

If you really knew me you would know that I really care about my family

And that I’m a great athlete

Also you would know that I try to make others live better by making them laugh

If you really knew me you would know tat I want to be great someday

And still haven’t planed out a route to get there

Only if you really knew me…

If you really knew me you would know that I come from a family that strives for greatness

And for me it hard to follow in their footsteps

If you knew me you would know I try my best to keep up the juggle between friends, sports, and schoolwork

If you really knew me you would know that I love music because I come from parents that also love music.

If you really knew me you would know that my dad is my best friend, because he’s been there for me through thick and thin.

If you really k new me you could see that im always going to be me and none will change that.

Only if you really knew…

I feel like a person needs their family to survive the world. Our family is there trough holidays and birthdays and can be helpful in or life to get that advice you need. Holidays like thanksgiving could help you because every one giving out thanks to each other and sharing a meal and also you can experience them because you don’t see them throughout the year.

On birthdays this is true also, your family could give you advice about the future because

They have experienced things throughout their lives and don’t want you to make the same mistakes.

In today’s world it is very important to fit in with the crowd, through social networks, celebrities, and friends influence them to become a person they are not. While being you self is important the world is creating a new generation of followers and no one is becoming a leader. So really the importance of fitting in is key to a social life in today’s world.

My book review of Monster by Walter Dean Myers

Roger Bracy                                                                                                            1/11/11

Book Review

The book I read this semester was Monster by Walter Dean Myers. This book has won many awards such as:

·                Coretta Scott King Honor (Author)

·                ALA Best Book for Young Adults

·                ALA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers

·                Kentucky Bluegrass Award

·                ALA Best Book for Young Adults

·                ALA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers

·                New York Times Notable Book of the Year

The story of Monster follows the court trial of Steve Harmon and James King, Who are being charged with the murder of drugstore owner. The story is told as if it were a movie from Steve’s point of view. This Murder was not Steve’s fault, but because he was near the crime scene as a supposed look out Steve was found in the wrong place at the wrong time. As the movie rolls on the life of Steve goes with it, seeing that when the trial end for the day he goes back to the cell where he feels uncomfortable and doubts himself in a way that he mite loose this trial.

The main conflict was between Steve and him self as he dealt with the fact that he was being labeled a monster. Steve didn’t want to believe that he was monster, but the fact he watched out as a James took another persons life must have been hard to swallow. Even though the conflict still is still in his head, Steve sets morals for himself to become a better person after this trial. Unluckily, James is charged with murder and Steve is sent out to begin his new life.

My favorite character throughout this story was Steve Harmon, he shows the strength and courage to believe that he is not something that people label him as, a monster. That shows that the moral of this was just that, if people label you as something, would you let people decide who are; or will you decide who you become? I could relate to Steve the best because he went through something that I

Have dealt with when I was in grade school, I was stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I would recommend this book because Walter Dean Myers is a good auther and can relate his topic with many people.

Quarter 3 Benchmark (The Odyssey Compare/Contrast Essay)

Posted by Roger Bracy on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 2:53 pm
This was about comparing the story of Everett and the story Odysseus

Roger Bracy                                                                                                             3/6/11

Everett vs. Odysseus

The Odyssey and O’ Brother Where Art Thou featured two adventurers who went down similar paths and confronted several dangers during their journey to get back home. O’ Brother Where Art Thou spotlighted Everett, a criminal who wants to get back home to his wife and kids.  He had to take two men with him to escape the chain gang, a group of prisoners working along side the road. Likewise, in The Odyssey, Odysseus was a leader in the Trojan War, and was trying to get home to his wife back in Ithaca with his crew. Even though Everett and Odysseus had a long journey, full of anguish and battle, one crew returned intact because of one man’s leadership skills. This great leader was Everett.

Odysseus and Everett both spotted one-eyed creatures in both their quests. However, when they confronted the beasts, they had different outcomes. When Odysseus first met Polyphemus, the Cyclops was a huge obstacle that he had to conquer. Odysseus, a man of pride, wasn’t going to let his men be trapped in the Polyphemus’s cave, so he made a plan to get the barbarian drunk and opened up the cave so his men could be free. “Hoisting high that olive stake with its stabbing point. Straight into the monster’s eye they rammed it hard.” (Book 9: lines 427-428) Odysseus not only makes the beast pass out, he outdid himself by piercing the eye of the Cyclops, blinding him forever.

This reflects Everett’s journey where he encountered a man of one eye, Big Dan Teague. While eating at a fancy restaurant, Everett and Delmar are confronted by a holy man, by the name of Big Dan Teague. He then took the men outside to eat and teach them the rules of selling the bible, and as soon as they weren’t paying attention, Big Dan pulled a branch off of a tree and beat the men with it. Dan took their money and car and left them stranded, but Everett would encounter Big Dan again. He made his second appearance when he chased and stormed after Everett and his crew while they interrupted the Homer Stokes KKK clan. Once the men got away they cut the rope of the burning cross the end the life of Big Dan Teague. Although Everett and Odysseus both faced a Cyclops the after math was very different.

Everett and Odysseus’s journeys are comparable by their Knowledge of their last obstacles. As Odysseus met his last challenge the advice from Circe aided his quest forward and helped them reach the island of Thrinacia. Her advice was “First you will raise the island of the sirens.”(Book 12: line 44) “Once you crew has rowed past the sirens a choice of routes is yours.” (Book 12: lines 61-62), talking about the routes between Scylla and Charybdis, and don’t eat the cattle, “Leave the beast unharmed, … and you may still reach Ithaca.” (Book 12: lines 148-149) Odysseus’s knowledge of the situation helped guide his men past the sirens and the two routes. To conclude his task, Odysseus’s men ended up eating the cattle leaving him to return without his crew intact.

Identical to Odysseus, Everett while at the end of his journey remembered information that was crucial to his crew’s survival. While facing their death, Everett and his men were going to be hung and killed off for all the crimes they have committed. Everett stood strong, as he knew that the dam was going to brake and flood the county by the lake. The men were saved from their death by the knowledge of Everett and they soon returned home. The ending of both men’s voyage was very similar as they both got home safely, but only one of these men came home with his crew; Everett was a better leader then Odysseus because he was able to get his crew home safely.

Furthermore Everett and Odysseus encountered similar quests and faced identical obstacles along the way, but only one man showed great leadership and got his men home. Everett has proven, multiple times, that he could save his men in his passage to get home; he wouldn’t leave his men in any situation that he wouldn’t overcome with them. As for Odysseus, he was hesitant to save his crew throughout his Journey because he had one task in his head; to go home. Everett and Odysseus, who come from different centuries, both found their way back home, but one man’s journey proved to his fellow crew that he could conquer all tasks that he was faced with to get his men out of trouble.

Quarter 2 Benchmark (Memoir Vignette)

Posted by Roger Bracy on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 2:51 pm
This was about telling a story about our life through our eyes.

Roger Bracy                                                                                                            1/7/11

The Ride of My Life

Forty-two stories of solid medal of stood in my way, and I wasn’t backing down from a challenge. (Interesting opener) That day at six flags changed my life; (Foreshadow) and the sign had stated “Kingda Ka”(dialogue) was my death ticket.

I was wondering why my friend had chosen this route to the other side of the park seeing that it had no outlet filled me with curiosity. Then I looked up, there stood the tallest coaster in the World, they called it “Kingda Ka.” Standing there trying to scare us on to this monstrosity was my friend Frank. Even though Frank is a loyal friend he has a way to trick you into doing things, such as, making you say stupid things, practical jokes, or things like getting on a scary ride.(magic three) As my sister and my cousin shied away from the ride I felt a little sorry for him seeing that it was the only ride that he enjoyed the most, and I gave in.

Walking through the maze of the line (metaphor) I questioned myself by saying, “Am I really going to risk my life over a friend.” Next I noticed that we were moving through this line really quickly was there absence of people. This had to be a mistake because this was the most popular ride in the park. We continued on to find that the ride had stopped temporally; this was my chance to leave. Having second thoughts about a ride made this experience even worse and frank wasn’t having it. Watching the ride load up, go up, and come down (magic 3) the ride got more and more intense.

The line finally caught up to us at the bridge, an area where the coaster was very clear. The train slowly would pull out onto a long track, STOP; shift back an inch and “CLICK” (onomatopoeia). Speakers shouting phrases of “don’t do it!” and “there’s no turning back now!” (Dialogue) The riders are consumed by terror as if they where a little kid waiting for a monster to jump out of a closet. (Simile) Like a rubber band, the coaster was ready to be released (simile) and the riders flung out at speeds of 85mph to climb the 42 stories which is known to be Kingda Ka.

As we approached the front of the line I was overwhelmed by fear buy some of the sights I was witnessing. There were foreigners, who had thick accents, they where very excited and had traveled all the way across the world to ride this giant piece of metal. Then religion started to show as I found people praying before the ride the left, right, up, and down hand motion of the cross gave some the strength to go on. Noticing that the line was beginning to congest, it was because of the exiting area, many people where exiting I guess felt a little like me.

Frank and I were next in line so kind wanted to get rid of my fear so I decided to ask people in the line some questions. I found a kid who was about my age and was very excited to go on, “what the hardest part of this ride?” I asked, (Dialogue) He answered going up this gave me the idea that if I can make it through to the top the rest would be pretty easy. Next Frank and started to count how long it takes to reach the top, it took about 14 seconds.

We were next; we hopped into our seats and waited for instructions. The worker told us to strap the harness as far as it could go down on our bodies. At this moment in time I was regretting that I had ever made fun of a fat person because they were the only people who could be held down properly on this ride as I was skinny and could shift all around the car. As we left the loading station the car slowly move us forward we stop the speakers were all around us shouting “No, No don’t do it!” and then all of the ride shot out like a cannon and we coasted our way up to the top. The ride became slower as everyone could now see that we hung over the parking lot and the view of black and white confronted us as we dropped down. It felt like an elephant was dancing on my stomach as we when down as it caved in. when it was over I was full of relief ans gave Frank a high five.

The ride ended, and I felt on top of the world and I thanked Frank for taking me on Kingda Ka. I figured that the only thing that held me back was the fact that I saw a challenge and I shy away and let my fear guide my mind. I never backed down and found that I would get through this nightmare.

Quarter 1 Benchmark (Macbeth Character Analysis)

Posted by Roger Bracy on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:21 am

(In our first benchmark we had to show how macbeth evolves as a character.)
Roger Bracy                                                                                                           11/1/10

Macbeth Evolved

Throughout the story of Macbeth the character of Macbeth has evolved in so many ways. Macbeth has changed and evolved from a heroic and ambitious person to evil and mean spirited.

In act 1 scene 2 of Macbeth, Macbeth is thought of as heroic for the country of Scotland he is one of a kind on the battlefield. He is praised when the captain describes him on the battlefield; “like a valor’s minion carved out is passage till he faced the slave which ne’er shook hand nor bade farewell to him till he unsreamed him fro the nave to th chaps and fixed his head upon our battlements.” (Act 1, scene 2, p 4) The captain is saying that Macbeth is a warrior who is very gruesome on the battlefield. Showing he is heroic and will fight for his country.

In act 1 scene 7 of Macbeth, Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth, are planning to kill King Duncan. Lady Macbeth plans on killing the king to get Macbeth prophesies to happen faster. Although, Lady Macbeth is confident in the decision Macbeth is not, he thinks to himself when he states; “If it were done when ‘tis done, then ‘twere well it were done quickly. If the assassination could trammel up the consequence, and catch with his surcease success.” (Act 1, scene 7, Page 20) insuring that he will get his power. Macbeth is saying that, if the assassination were done then he could get his success promised to him by the three witches much faster. As the story goes on the Macbeth get more and more anxious to make his prophesies come true.

Also in act 1 scene 7 of Macbeth, after Macbeth’s wife, Lady Macbeth, gave him the idea of killing King Duncan, Macbeth man-hood is questioned because he doesn’t have the strength to kill. So he second-guesses himself by stating; “Bloody instructions, witch, being taught, return to plague th inventor.” (Act1, scene 7, p 21) This shows that Macbeth is very humble to King Duncan because he says he doesn’t want to kill the man who taught him how to kill. However this shows Macbeth is willing to at least think before he and his wife make a decision.

In act 2, scene 1 in Macbeth, Macbeth finally makes the decision to kill off the king. He is doing this to prove his masculinity to his wife and to prove the witches prophesies true. Through peer pressure Macbeth makes the decision to kill the king when he says. “ Is this a dagger I see before me? The handle toward my hand” ( Act 2, scene 1, p 25) Macbeth is trying to state that he is not ready to do this, and he is about to do something he will regret.

Act 2 scene 2 of Macbeth, the deed is done and not only is Macbeth feeling guilty but Lady Macbeth acts like there is nothing wrong. Macbeth shows his guilt when he comes back with the bloody dagger he used to kill Duncan with, and says. “Will great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand.” (Act 2, scene 2, p 29) Macbeth has stated that he wants to wash this blood from his hands because he doesn’t like that he just betrayed someone who he trusted. He has to over come his guilt if he ever is going to be a powerful leader and right at this point he doesn’t show those qualities.

In act 3 scene 1 of Macbeth, the town finds out what was done but not who had done it, so the lords group together to find this mystery. Banquo, who is also a lord like Macbeth, has a suspect that there was foul play involved and he tries to go farther into in, but Macbeth soon find this and tries to shut Banquo’s investigation down. He decides, without influence from his wife, to kill Banquo by having two murderers follow him. Macbeth makes this plan by saying; “So is he mine; and in such bloody distance that every minute of his being thrusts against my near’st of life.” (Act 3, scene 1, lines 116-118) Macbeth is now on the path of evil because he is stating that he will kill banquo because he is a threat to his crown. Banquo will soon have his revenge.

In act 3 scene 4 of Macbeth, after Banquo is killed he comes back as ghost to haunt Macbeth at his dinner party, but Macbeth is the only one who can see him. Macbeth knows he’s in way over his head when he says; “I am in blood, Stepped in so far that, should I wade no more.” (Act 3, scene 4, p 55) What is being said here, is that Macbeth is feeling some guilt he mite have done to much. As a reader, Macbeth is now making his own decisions and is not influenced by anyone else but himself and he is becoming more of villain with all these murders under his belt.

In act 4 scene 4 of Macbeth, Macbeth is now a full blown king with and he is using his power to become a villain instead of a leader. Macduff was next to get executed because he knew too much about what happened to King Duncan and Banquo. So because of this Macbeth decides to kill Macduff while he is at home, what the muderers found was a house only filled with Macduff’s wife and son but he wasn’t there. Macduff hear this news and Malcolm, the real king who was next to receive the crown but run away, comforts him when he says; “This tyrant, whose sole name blisters our tongues once thought honest, you have loved him well; he hath not touched you yet.” (Act 4, scene 4, p 73) Malcolm statement on Macbeth shows that he is a disloyal king and cannot be trusted as the King of Scotland.

In act 5 scene 5 of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth has just passed away because of her sickness and Macbeth isn’t fazed by this because he has a bigger challenge ahead of him.

This challenge is the war between Macbeth and the other lords. He doesn’t even think about his wife when the messenger says; “The Queen my, lord is, dead” (Act5, scene 5, line 16) Macbeth is feeling no hurt because he has been through this situation before with King Duncan. So now he has no one to back him up and he will face this army alone.

In the end, Macbeth is found to be a ruthless killer, who has no feeling for his wife or his country. These quotes connect to my thesis because they help describe Macbeth evolvement into the monster that he became in the story. Shakespeare’s motive for the story of Macbeth was to inform readers to be happy with what you have, because Macbeth was given a promoted and the prophecy that he will be king; but he was impertinent and need more power.

Posted by Roger Bracy in English 1 - Dunn on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 3:07 pm
Imagine if I said you were laid off from your job, what would you do? Where would you go? Watching the economy even as a 15 year old is overly stressful to the point where daily I think about what will happen once I enter and leave college will there be an opportunity. College tuition is rising and job are harder to find, so will only the cream of the crop of student out of college and have chances at a well paid job, or Do up and coming college kids cope with the debt after college while becoming one of the unemployed citizens of the US.

The economy's numbers are dropping for available jobs and is getting worst then the Depression of the 1930's. Resent studies have shown that in december 2010 the unemployment rate has been to a high of 9.75% of people in the US. Then shown that percentage of the ethnical background of the unemployment rate are:

shown here
Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (8.6 percent), adult women (7.7 percent), teenagers (24.5 percent), whites (7.9 percent), blacks (15.5 percent), and Hispanics (11.3 percent) showed little change in March. The jobless rate for Asians was (7.1 percent), not seasonally adjusted.

PERSPECTIVE ART

Posted by Roger Bracy on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 2:01 pm
A project that started Boxes drawn from perspective with a horizon line which helped me make  boxes for wall then to an entire room. Next we used the our skill and techniques on drawling an entire room filled with a sky light, rug, window and door. Then we took a wall of the art room counted the ceiling tiles to get the right look of the ceiling which I found hardest thing we had to do.
The easiest thing was making the wall on the side.

This is a classmate with a good idea of the project Henry Poeng

Bracy Hull Key Slide

Posted by Roger Bracy in Technology - Hull on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 8:54 am

My slide is simple and easy to see, by the way of the font size. Also you can see there is unity between my phrases and name, which all make up my personality. Then there is contrast between the background, my name, and the phrases. All the phrases are white and all the letters of the name are going vertically and are red, which create repetition. Overall a well done slide.
