Jennifer Wright Marking Period 1
I created a sculpture that was inspired by using sustainable materials. I took an idea that was close to me and put the idea in effect using things that were recycled. By using materials that were already created put this type of art into perspective.
For me, I make decisions about my work by planning. I am a natural planner, often over-thinking, so most of my ideas were hashed out before I started creating the sculpture. I selected materials that were relevant to the project. Recycled bottle caps, cardboard and paper were the focal point. In another way, I chose things that are not normally used in art outside of arts-and-crafts projects. Though I knew what I was building, the type of materials were selected and used as I began making it.
The idea was started when I wanted to share something about my life. I chose something relatively new to my life. I found out I had a thyroid disorder at the beginning of ninth grade. It's something of a side story in my life. It's not a focal point and that's why I chose to focus on it. My work was about my personal experience with thyroid disease as well as general information about it and how it can affect a person.

Drue and Tamatha- T vs Ud. Questions
* Tú vs. Ud. Questions
Explanation to teach topic:
1. Greeting your friends and their parents.
2. Explanation to teach topic:
There are two type of ways to greet someone-informal and formal.
When you use informal you would use tú and when you use formal you would use usted (ud.).
When you are talking to your amigos you would use tú and when your talking to your amigo’s parents, you would use ud.
You would use ud. when talking to an adult to show a sign of respect.
Example:
Tú:
¿Como estás (tú)?.....How are you?
¿Como te llamas (tú)?....What’s your name?
¿De dónde eres (tú)?....Where do you from?
¿Cuántos años tienes (tú)?.....How old are you?
Ud.:
¿Como es (ud.)?...How are you?
¿Como se llama (ud.)?...What’s your name?
¿De dónde es (ud.)?.....Where are you from?
¿Cuántos años tiene (ud.)?.... How old are you?
Notice how there are marking on top of certain letters. And there are two question marks, an upside down one in the front and a regular one in the back. We put two question marks or two exclamation point in front of a sentence so you would know if the sentence is a question or a statement.

Election Day Interview
(picture emailed)
At my polling place, there was a guy handing out information about Brendan Boyle, and I ended up interviewing him. Turns out he's Boyle's uncle!
My first question was, "What motivated you to come out and vote?" He said that his nephew was running, and he was very invested in him winning, but he's always felt an obligation to vote.
Next I asked him, "What would you like to see changed in our political system?" I found his answer very interesting. He said he'd like to see more jobs, better healthcare, that kind of stuff. I don't think he understood what I was asking, or didn't have an answer. Often people don't really think about the way our political system runs as something that can, or should, be changed and improved.
My next question was, "Where have you encountered the highest amount of ad campaigning?" He answered right off the bat that it was TV by far.
Next I asked him, "Are you always sure of who you are going to vote for when you walk into the booth or are you still deliberating?" He said he always knows. From the people I've talked to, I get the sense that the dedicated voters are not only dedicated to always getting out to vote, but also to do their research, and make sure they have a good picture of the candidates and their views on issues.
The last question I had for him was, "Did you learn about voting in school? If yes, did that impact your willingness to vote today?" He said that he is from Ireland, and over there he was always taught to value the opportunity to vote, and that learning about it in school definitely impacted his willingness to vote. Once he came to America, he still held that same value that he got from his education in Ireland.
