Rough Cut Film Festival 2012
at The Franklin Institute (Philadelphia, PA)
Tues, June 5, 2012 (6-8:30 PM)

Rough Cut Productions proudly presents its first annual film festival showcasing student work from the past academic season. Varying in length and content, all of the films in the showcase make it abundantly clear that age is not pre-requisite for professional filmmaking.

The films included in this inaugural show run the gamut of storytelling via content, style and format, but all come back to skills honed through our video production courses.

Come to The Franklin for an evening of films that will entertain, provoke thought, inspire and most importantly celebrate the amazing work of these young artists.

A Q&A session with the filmmakers along with a reception will follow the film screenings. This event is free, and open to the SLA community and their guests. The Musser Theater has a 250 person capacity, so reserve your ticket early.

I spoke to Henry King from SharedTalk because he was kind of ok to speak to and wasn't a creep, like Mercader. He held up a conversation well. However, when he found out I was a noob and learning from strangers, he went Spanish grammar Nazi on me. 

I tried to speak as well as I could just to get my point across. I made mistakes by just throwing our random words that one would think would get my word across, but Henry K kept correcting me and I got frustrated. 

I guess my main mistake was mixing up similar words with one another, like "por" and "para."

​Who did I speak with and why did I choose that person?

I spoke with Delisio from Argentina because she was willing to chat with me. 

What did you learn about them? What did you learn from them?
I learned about what type of movies she likes and I also learned about the movies of Argentina. I guess I learned that my last name isn't very common, she thought it was a nickname. 

How did this interaction help you move towards achieving your personal goal?
This interaction helped me move towards achieving my personal goal because I already learned about Argentina and I wanted more information about the country and I got it.

What specifically did you do well according to your goals/expectations?'
What I did well was that I asked the questions that I wanted to ask on previous blog posts that deal with movies. 
  • What specifically do you need to improve on? (Quote specific things you said or did and what you would have done or said if you could do it again)
    I need to work on reading what I write before  I hit "enter" because I kept repeating a question that didn't make sense. I wanted to say "Where are you from" but I got it mixed up with a different question so spell/grammar checking in general before I speak.

    Blog Post #4: ¿Hay doble entendres en español?

    On italki, I asked if there are double entendres in spanish. I learned that it is called "doble sentido" in spanish and french. I also learned that they only have "doble sentidos" in only some spanish speaking countries. I also received a couple of other insightful answers.

    Prom Court 2012

    Hey Everyone, 

     It's prom time, and this year Science Leadership Academy will be having it's very first prom court. Yes, you read that right. The class of 2012 will have a prom king and queen !!! Although the winner's will be crowned at the senior prom I encourage the whole school to watch their videos and show your support.
    Check out the candidates for Prom Queen as they give more general information about themselves, answer why they should be chosen and what they bring to S.L.A.
    Here are the two final candidates from Prom King. Watch as they duke it out to see who will be crowned king.

    ​En mi apartamento, hay un baño entre los dos habitaciónes (para mi y mi hermana mayor, y mi mamá) en el segundo piso. En el primero piso, tenemos un comedor entre mi cocina. En mi comedor/cocina, hay una mesa, muchas sillas y una estufé, y una nevera con mucha comida eso me encanta comer todos los días. Próximo a mi comedor es mi sala. En mi sala, hay dos sofás, una computadora escritorio (con la computadora de mi familia), una computadora silla, un espejo grande, y un tele grande. Tenemos también muchas juegos en mi sala(Xbox, Wii, PS2).

    Aqui es mi casa. Mi casa es grande y bonito. Tiene bastante largo jardin y garaje. Hay tres baños, cuatro habitacíones, y una grande sala. No hay piscina, pero hay muchas floras. Hay arboles con chimenea.
