100 People: A World Portrait
We were given a work sheet entitled " World of 100: If the world were only 100 people, how would the numbers stack up ?" We were asked to to divide the world as if there were only 100 people in it. Once we did this we compared our answers as a class then we compared them with the correct answers. We each only compared 3 catagoires individually. The once i chose to compare were poverty, geography & rural/urban. When estimating the world of 100 I said that North America 25,Latin America 20, Europe1 0, Asia 15, and Africa 30 as far as geography does and my classes numbers were pretty much the same but I was sadly mistaken. When I compared the correct answers 60% of the 100 people were Asian and only 5 % were from North America. I was most accurate with the rural and urban living. I said 50/50 and I was correct the real answer showed just about the same amount. The answers that shocked me the most was the geography. I expected more people to be from north America but then again America is so urbanized compared to other countries that you would probably need 100 people to run north america. Below are my individual pie charts, as well as my comparing bar graph.
