How to tell the months in Spanish

The dates and months are difficult until you get used to them. I am here to make the process faster and simpler.

For starters you must know your numbers from 1 to 31.

The spelling may be the hardest part.

1. January - enero

2. February - febrero

3. March - marzo

4. April - abril

5. May - mayo

6. June - junio

7. July - julio

8. August - agosto

9. September - septiembre

10. October - octubre

11. Novembre - noviembre

12. December - diciembre

The first letter of the month is never capalizied, it would be counted as wrong. Also the day comes before the month

For example:

Christmas - 25/12/00

Chritmas - viente cinco de diciembre

Thanks for using this blog as you resource, don't get off yet weather is next!

Que hora es/son? How to tell and ask the time.

Lesson: In order to tell time you need to know:

- How to count in spanish

-How to ask what time it is

-How to say what time it is.

1   o’clock

Es la una

2   o’clock

Son las dos

3   o’clock

Son las tres

4   o’clock

Son las cuatro

5   o’clock

Son las cinco

6   o’clock

Son las seis

7   o’clock

Son las siete

8   o’clock

Son las ocho

9   o’clock

Son las nueve

10 o’clock

Son las diez

11 o’clock

Son las once

12 o’clock

Son las doce

:15

cuarto

:30

media

:45

menos cuarto

y

and

menos

minus

Spanish=English

¿Que hora es?= What time is it?

Son las doce y media= It is 12:30

Son las tres y cuarto= It is 3:15

Es la una y diez= It is 1:10

Son las dos menos cuarto= It is 1:45

There are other numbers you have to know to become experts at telling time.

If it is 1:55 you can say Son las dos menos cinco. or you can say Es la una y cincuenta y cinco.

These both mean the same thing, they are two different ways of saying 1:55.

The following numbers  are numbers you need to know:

:20

veinte

:30

trenta

:40

cuarenta

:50

cincuenta

So if you wanted to say it was 6:40 you could say:

Son las seis y cuarenta.

Son las siete menos veinte.

They both mean the same thing.

If it is AM you should say de la mañana after the time.

If it is the afternoon you should say de la tarde after the time.

If it is PM you should say de la noche after the time.

Ex:

1:05pm= Es la una y cinco de la tarde.

11:27pm= Son las once y vientisiete de la noche.

8:30am= Son las ocho y media de la mañana.

Here is a video about a boy who is late for class and asks his Puerto Rican friend what time it is.

How to greet people in spanish.

Hola, greeting people is always important when talking with someone. In this lesson you will learn how to greet people in Spanish. For an example, "Hola" means hello in Spanish.

Now, you can add on something to "hola" to make more since when talking to a spanish speaker for an example. "¿Hola, cómo estás? is "hello, how are you" but you have to be careful because you can'y say that to just anyone. Like, if your talking with one of your friends you can say "hola, cómo estás" but, if your talking with a older person you must show respect. So just simply add "usted" at the end of the greeting and remove the "S" in estas. So all together it would be this. "Hola, cómo esta usted?"

Now to reply it's a bit more harder. After the other person replys to you and ask how you are, you can say im good, or bad or fine. Of coures in spanish. good in spanish is "bien" bad is "malo" and fine is "maso meno"

So, when they answer and say "y tu" meaning "and you?" you can say how are you with thoes three words.
Then your all set. This is just for begginers who want to have a small talk. So, thank you for reading i hope that you learn a few things and can use them in the near future.

Qu da es hoy? What is today's date? con Jonathan Spencer

How to ask the date? What to say when asked that question? How to say it correctly. All that you will learn in this section of Aprendiendo español con Jonathan Spencer! You don't want to give anyone the wrong information and you don't want to not understand it when they say it to you. If you want to ask the date you'd say ¿Qué día es hoy? (kay-dee-a-es-hoy) You would respond by saying "Fecha de hoy es el 25 de octubre" That means that today is the 25th of October. To be specific you would say Fecha de hoy es el the number de the month.
