A Character

To an author, a character is real. Their life their story their actions are as real as what anyone else does, the only diffrence is that what they do doesn't physically act on our world. It works in a diffrent world that again is just as real as ours.

Lyrics Excerpt from Grandmaster Flash - The Message
Broken glass everywhere
People pissing on the stairs, you know they just don't care
I can't take the smell, I can't take the noise no more
Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice
Rats in the front room, roaches in the back
Junkies in the alley with the baseball bat
I tried to get away, but I couldn't get far
Cause a man with a tow-truck repossessed my car

Lyrics Excerpt from American Idiot
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda
Now everybody do the propaganda

Don't want to be an American idiot
One nation controlled by the media
Information age of hysteria

FACTs Middle School

So today I had the pleasure to go to FACTs Middle School in Chinatown. As soon as I walked in the door, I felt like I was in the middle school version of SLA. It was just so much creativity, and the kids really seemed to love the school. The teachers gave off a family vibe and that they really loved the school just like SLA. When I spoke to some of the teachers they were extremely supportive, and were very welcoming to me. They are very immersed in culture. All the kids even elementary school are learning Mandarin, which is so awesome! I really wished I would have gone to a school like FACTs for middle school, because it was so amazing. Even though, by the end of the meeting I realized I was going to have about a million more things to do, I felt like I would really enjoy working with the staff and kids.

Things get in the way.

If I could leave this place, with a smile on my face. I'd give up everything, just t make you happy. But we both know that this isn't how life goes. We could build our own world. But every other aspect of my life keeps calling me.

Uncommon Romance Part 1

She had spent the last four hours in front of her desk, in her cubicle, working on her dissertation.  As she walked to the copier, she realized how numb her legs had become.  His back was facing her, but she recognized his hair; high top fades weren't too common in this part of the city.  He sat reading the manual, through the hum of the Xerox machine should have silenced even the simplest thoughts.
She watched in awe as he carefully tightened one screw and loosened another.  He stood up, seemingly satisfied with his work.

"Excuse me," she said trying to contain a smile, "did you fix it?"
"Oh, hi.  I didn't see you there.  But, uh, yeah.  It is."

He stepped aside, awkwardly gesturing towards the machine with his free hand.

"Thanks," she said, opening the lid.  "I'll see you around."

"You will," he replied as he walked towards the door.

Speechless

I don't even really know what to say. All I know is, a day that I didn't really see feasible has come and I'm just happy... and excited. My friend from Oklahoma is finally in Philly. We're finally in the same place together. I honestly don't even know what to write. I just hope my mom doesn't do anything to mess this up for me.

A Pain's Worth

For Wednesday

Have you ever had to go through the school day holding back tears and trying to avoid collapsing with every step you take? Not many people can attest to that. This was my wednesday, but still I went with my friend to the Emergency room so that she wouldn't be by herself.
