This project all started from when we first did the boxes in space where we had to draw a horizon line  and a vanishing point. This part was basically to start us thinking about how we was going to draw our room. Doing the boxes was really helpful because it showed us how things above that vanishing point you can not see the top. For things below the vanishing point you can only see the top and not bottom.
Next we drew a miniature room which helped a lot. It was to show us how to make objects such as doors, windows, and furniture look like their coming out the wall. Since we all know that things don't sit on the wall the come out towards you. When I drew my actually picture it was easy to draw because I had a practice run already with the miniature drawing. 
I basically used all the information that we learned before and we put it all together to make our room. When you get help piece by piece it helps you a whole lot because their not giving it to you all at once. It gives you the time to process what you learned. Even though it still can be pretty hard drawing things because it might take somebody longer to process it, but over all it's really good help.
The easiest thing for me to learn how to do was the doors, ceiling, windows, and the floor. It was easy to draw them because we had prior practice with it which helps a lot. The hardest was the furniture. It was hard because we didn't spend to much time on drawing furniture, but with the help of Mrs. Hull it made it come out okay.

I think her's was good because she can tell that she put a lot of hard work into her project. She even said that she had an outside source to help make hers better. She give good details. She did good with the whole process of the drawing. You can tell she spent her time to help her drawing come out looking good. She didn't rush through it and you can tell because of all the details she give the picture.

This marking period we learned about one point perspective. We did practice with cubes and learned about orthogonal lines. We then used  a combination of vertical, horizontal, and orthogonal lines to make a room. This one is the practice one but I think I did better on this one than the final so I used this one. It's a room that I really want. The main part that helped was when we learned how to make things stick out in front of other things like the door frame. One of the harder things to get right was the cylinder shape of the poles on the loft bed. Overall it's a great picture.

 Your drawing was really great. I like how you added a lot of detail in how objects stick out in front of the wall. The vanishing point has good placement dead in the center. Despite all the creases this was a very successful room. 

​ Women are shown in ads and places that do not take them serious. But what happens when one is assaulted or a victim of domestic violence from there partner? Do the media talk about it, or do they talk more about the Victoria Secret Model new photo shoot. “In 2005, 1,181 women were murdered by an intimate partner.¹ That's an average of three women every day. Of all the women murdered in the U.S., about one-third were killed by an intimate partner”, from an article from NOW.com (National Organization for Women). No one notices these violent acts, but do notice the other things instead of the one main focus, Women in Domestic.

 In 2009, one of the biggest events was happening, The Grammy’s. Singer Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend singer Chris Brown got into an atication driving there way to the Grammy’s.  Rihanna wanted to see who Chris was texting, supposely he was texting an old girlfriend. Rihanna wanted to see the text and Chris refused. The argument eventually turned into an physical attack onto Rihanna. Chris Brown hit, punched and even hit Rihanna. Now no one is bashing on Chris Brown what had happened is done and over with. The question that is being raised is, how come that situation was broadcast the day after, and no other situation like that was. While the was going on, someone else, another female could have been getting assaulted, or beat on by her boyfriend. The media doesn’t focus on the bigger issue of not just what happened between Chris Brown and Rihanna, but what is happening to women all over the country.

 Situations such as Domestic Violence are never really brought up in the media unless someone gets brutally hurt, or even to the point killed. When a woman is being abused by her partner, or who ever, they report it, but it isn’t taking serious. Almost 35% of abusers are released from prison on bail after being held for abusing a woman. This action should be looked at more closely. If the abuser is release, don’t you think that he is going to go after the woman that he abused that got him locked up? Abusers aren’t looked at as actually armed and dangerous, but more non-stable when they are the ones that are armed and dangerous.

Some other abuses can be when the person was little. They could be abuse when they were little, and the anger from that could build up and take it out on other people. This is another example of people who take their anger out on people. They hit, and even kill people. This isn’t intentionally but it is hurtful to others that are the ones getting abuse. Sometimes the person that is getting abuse is the person the abuser doesn’t wants to abuse but they picture you as the other person they want to get back at.

 Fear is another way woman get abused more. If the woman do not come forward telling what is going on, than the abuse is going to continue. Many abuses are not reported every year, over A high number of domestic violence and child abuse cases go unreported in the country. Almost 450 cases each year or even more. The country is striving to find out more about these cases, but if no one is coming forward to and telling about these abuses, no one can help them and they can not be reported.

 Women you must come forward, it’s not the countries fought but it is there fought for not bringing it to attention. We need to notice it more.

The Purpose of my of my 10-20-30 page was to interview my closes family, and find out the real history through african american music. Go through all the greats and hits to see which really builded american music. I had to base my project off one simple question why didn't african americans get credit? Where did R&B come from but then I found out that the white people really didn't want r & b and change in american music. While interviewing my father (John Shuman) He gave me the theme the basic idea, he made me look deeper into the project.

The hardest about this project, is getting the information. I had to research deeper than other students. There weren't many articles about how whites stole african american music, they didn't talk about it or said much about it. THe further the years went the harder it got, so i found diaries, and letters. I found articles and things like that, and concert dates about things like that. I went in depth with my research. 

The good thing about my project was i could add my own flavor and add spice, and flavor. I created a page built off inspiration, and what i wanted. The colors, african american pictures, the way i put a collage was all a message. Made the overall question mean something, and I enjoyed this project.

For a study of ethnomusicology, our job was to interview three people. Those people had to be 10 years , 20 years, and 30 years older than us or that were alive in that time period. Our assignment was to figure out what was their favorite songs from that time, and why. We also needed to add an event from each year. These necessary things were described as to how they were relevant and how the music as well as the articles influenced African American History.  

Reflection: Much effort on my part was done in order to complete my Wikispace considering the contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity (also known as CARP). What was most challenging was trying to figure out what how to align to songs so that they would fall under the category of proximity. The data on the articles was limited because 2/3 of the articles, necessary for viewing had to be purchased. Therefore, a brief summary of the summary that was given is what I was able to provide. 

If anyone would have liked to purchase the articles, a link was added. The things that were simple were interviewing people, even though it took me a while to figure out who I was potentially going to interview. With this in mind, adding the audio files was not a challenge at all. Although there were many parts that were challenging when doing this project, there was much application of knowledge possible.

I enjoyed this project. It was different from any other project that I have had in the 9 years I have been in grade school. I really enjoyed designing my wiki page. Just the fact people can go online and see my work and maybe even learn from it is awesome to me. Also, I liked the connections my interviewers for the 10-20-30 made to their favorite songs back in the day. That actually proved “Orange Nation’s” outlook on music that was played back in the day true, based on my interviewers outlook on music.

 

What I had the most trouble with is finding articles and events that happened in the year I was going research in. It was hard because I didn’t want to find anything that didn’t have anything to do with my project. I thought that some things where that important. However, any event to me in African American History is important.

She wanted to see how African American people was portrayed in the 90s since we weren't here to live it.

The question she had was "How am I going to get these articles to get the project done?".

What was the easiest part and the hard part of your project?
The easiest part was choosing the songs and choosing the articles to summarize. The hardest part for her was finding decent articles to write about.

Her purpose was to find articles and summarize about them in the years before the 1990s. And to find songs that was popular in her parents' time.

SHe felt that her final project was okay because she didn't put enough effort into her project.

Essay!

For the Ethnomusicology Benchmark I had a lot of fun creating history through the use of my own blog. It was also very nice that we acquainted it with music released at the time. It really helped educate us on the past events of African Americans. 

Although the articles provided sufficient information, I am still wondering what else went on during the time of racism. It feels like a large period of time is missing from public documentation. I am almost certain other things have happened within the time period. I will further research this to hopefully find out. 


For me the best part about this project was designing it. I greatly enjoyed this. I found searching for articles very difficult however.

My purpose for doing this project was to learn more about what the world was like before I was born. A lot of things have changed now in days. My parents changed the music they listened to 20 years before I was born. Everything that was out back then is completely out of style now. I like that kind of music mostly because I was raised around it.

 

 The best part of the project was being able to sit there and listen to the resins behind why they loved it. Though my Dad didn’t really have a resin

besides the fact that he liked it. The resins were almost as good as the songs them selves. Music is a big part of my everyday environment. The music from before I was born was some of the best of it’s time.

 

 The hardest part was the articles because I could never find one from 1995 that I liked in the lest. When I looked I looked for hours and still couldn’t find anything I liked. Thoughs articles just weren’t up to my standards. I don’t exactly like the ones I picked but I couldn’t exactly find any others.

It's been a long time since I've had a cold.  And I'm talking about a real cold; not the ones with a mild sore throat and a runny nose, but the kind of cold where you can't even go to sleep at night because your nose is so stuffed up that you can't breathe.

For the past few days, I have been in utter anguish because of this cold.  I slept like shit last night and the night before because I can not get comfortable at all.  I feel like I need to shove an entire box of tissues up my nose to keep it from pouring snot. YUCKKKKKK!

And I hate how the weather is so beautiful but I can't even enjoy it because my throat keeps swelling up.  I can't even talk about how nice it is outside because my voice is GONE. 

And when I don't have to suffer through long hours of work, all I can do is go to my boyfriend's house after school and lay in his bed and pretend like I'm not dying from asphyxiation and lack of sleep.

UGHHHHH.

The point of doing the 10-20-30 project was to find out from different people what kind of music they used to listen 10, 20 and 30 years ago and what kind of events happened around that time. I believe that this project was very important because you got to learn about the different events that people had to go through before you were born. I also believe that it was a great learning experience to be very thankful for what you have and what you didn’t have to go through.

For example back then in 1965 my grandmother had to live the life of racism. Her life was very hard because she couldn’t go to the places she wanted to go to and she couldn’t do the things she wanted to do. So right know we have the right to do things we want to do and we have better opportunities. So from this project I learned to be very thankful for not living the life in 1965 because if you did you would live the life of racism also. 

I believe the best part of the project was to get pictures from the internet and get music from gosong.net. I believe the most difficult part of the project was to find the different events in the year 1965. On the New York Times website the events didn’t go all the way back to 1965. Instead it stopped at 1975. Overall I had so much fun doing this project and I learned many things from it.

The Ethnomusicology project was interesting.  It combined AA history with music, which created a weird/cool mixture of fun and intelligence.  The hardest part of the project was finding the articles to use.  The best part of the article was getting to find the music.  Lets dive in to 10-20-30!

            The 10-20-30 project combined learning with fun.  We got to find our own recourses and analyze the articles, while at the same time we got to ask older people what kinds of music they listened to, which also gives us insight into the last generation.

            Finding the articles and music was equally troubling and rewarding.  When finding the music we got to listen all of the different music from our past and analyze it so that we could explain it when we inserted it into our projects.  When we where finding the articles it was extremely trying.  The articles where harder to find than a needle in a haystack.  These two different experiences helped me gain insight into the way my brain works and what I would like better in my future.

             With this project I really felt like I learned a lot.  I never could stop working to accomplish finding articles or writing and revising.  When doing this project, their where mixtures of hard work, and enjoyed strife.  With this project I felt like SLA’s true nature was revealed.

I enjoyed doing the 10-20-30 project. I learned a lot from it. For me the most satisfying part about it was the events’ part of it. The event that happened in 1986 stood out the most and stuck with me. It was very hurtful to know that an event like this could take place in such a present day.

            The design part was probably the hardest part for me. I am not “artistically gifted”, so trying to design a page was hard for me. I knew what I wanted my page to look like, but it was hard for me to try and do it. Overall I loved this project, not only because of the work I did; but what I learned the most is from other people. My classmate’s projects taught me a whole lot.

When it came to 10-20-30, I was a little hesitant. Not having much of a music background myself I thought I would find this benchmark difficult. But when I first started it started to flow in my mind. How I would do it, and how I would end it. What I would use and how I would apply it. With every project, there are ups and downs. The best part was having an epiphany, while the worst part being, trying to ask my parents about music.

 Starting from the worst part. When it was made clear that I had to ask my parents, I put my head down. “This is going to be difficult.” I said to myself. So I went out of my way to go and find music that I thought they would like, which I ultimately did at the end. The excitement of getting that part completed was simply overwhelming.

Ending at the best part. When I was struggling to come up with ideas and designs, I thought I was going to fail. Then out of nowhere when I was eating, it just came to me. A great idea just popped into my head like Mr. Sherif’s random dancing. Applying everything that had come up and adding stuff on over time, I took a final look at the project; it was amazing in my eyes.

            In the end, overcoming challenges give you such a huge sense of accomplishment that will be noted by teachers and peers alike. I was proud of my work and I was not hesitant to turn it in.
