My Home Network

  • explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection.
I have many devices connected to my L.A.N. First is the modem which sends Fios to the router. The router sends data to all devices connected to my network.
The devices connected to my network are a FireTV and a mac mini which are both connected to the network by ethernet cables. The following devices are connected to wifi. They are a macbook, chromebook, an iPad 3, an iPad mini 2, an iPhone 5s, a kindle, kindle paperwhite, and a bathroom scale.

  • reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned.
I learned that the internet and wifi are two different things. The internet is brought into the house by fios and that the router transmits the internet to the devices on my network by the ethernet cables and Wifi. My OMG moment was when I realized why the wifi was turned off on the mac mini because it is connected to the network by ethernet cables.

  • what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?

I would tell other people that they need to know that wifi and internet are different things. They would also need to know that devices connect in different ways like Wifi and ethernet cables. I would also tell them that if they wanted to use a device far from the router they have to make sure is was wifi since wifi is wireless.

Your Eye Color

  • Science: What is the science behind this topic? How do you explain the science to the general public? How reliable are your sources? Can you verify this science with other sources?

  • Eye color is determined by the variations in the human’s eyes. The genes associated with eye color are determined by the production, transport, and storage of a pigment called melanin. My source is extremely reliable because it is a site with a .gov, meaning it was created by the government. Yes, it can be verified with other sources.

  • Society: How does this impact society? Are certain people more impacted than others? Does it affect society in a negative or positive manner? What are some of the different viewpoints on this topic? How might this develop in the future?

  • This directly impacts society in how you view the person and how the person looks when brought into the world. You also see a pattern in who normally has a certain color eye, and when there’s someone who doesn’t have that same color, people notice that.

  • Self: What are your thoughts on this issue? Do you identify with a certain viewpoint? How does your culture or upbringing influence your thoughts on this topic? What suggestions do you have on this issue?

  • I think it’s very interesting that most black people have brown eyes because of their genes that were passed down. I don’t really identify with any viewpoint, since eye color is eye color. I suggest that we look at things more important than eye color, because eye color doesn’t affect anyone’s lifestyle in a meaningful way.

Join us on this horrific waiting experience with Aspen and how he had gotten through accidentally spilling the customers drink.

My Home Network

There are 13 devices that are hooked up to my home network. These are our tv, x-box 1, wii, ipad, our cell phones, printer and laptops. I learned a lot about home networks through this project, like how information gets to and from your phone and computers. It surprised me to find out how your’e able to block content you can see on your computer. If I was to tell someone what they needed to know about having an ISP, it would be to do your research first to make sure you know what your’e doing. Also don’t be afraid to ask for help.
