Negative space is the space that is not apart of the object.This space is like the emptiness in a shape. Exp.In a chair there might be a whole in the chair, and that would be the space.

B. Explain how you found negative space in 1. your cut out?, 2. in your stool drawing?

In my cutout I just chose what I wanted to be my negative space. It didn't really matter when I cut out the white and black shapes. In the stool drawing it was easy to find the negative space because it was basically just the empty space between the stool.

C. Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

It helps the artist see all the details of the picture.

D. Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not

It does because it shows a different more interesting view of the picture.

The  topic of conversation will be about the sports that are played in Argentina and how that relates to the culture of the country.

I am looking forward to learning about the sports of Argentina since I myself is a big sports fan who follows professional football and even play football on SLA's varsity football team.

I am only a little nervous about having a full conversation without using a translator. However, I have learned how to deal with this from my work on my first goal.

• Who did I speak with and why did I choose that person?

I spoke to Juan Vela and I spoke to this person because I wanted to know about sports in Argentina and he is a native of Argentina.

• What did you learn about them? What did you learn from them?

I learned that Juan is a very passionate soccer fan. I learned that football is the most popular sport in Argentina but other popular sports include volleyball, tennis and basketball. I also found out that Juan plays football and tennis. His favorite football team in Argentina is Boca. Juan's favorite player is Carlos Tevez. Juan also learned that I also play football for my school and my favorite football team is Man City in the English Premier League.

• How did this interaction help you move towards achieving your personal goal?

I am very passionate about soccer and I wanted to learn about soccer in foreign countries and Argentina has one of the best national soccer teams. I have learned a lot of sports vocabulary while at the same time learning about something that I enjoy doing. I also liked that my conversation with Juan included different tenses.

B. For my cut out, I found negative space in the outlining of the different parts. For the stool, I first focused on the outline of the stools and then looked at the space outside the outline, not inside.

D. I think that negative space enhances a drawing, because you become more aware of the environment that the object you are drawing is placed in.

A. The space between the objects and air. It helps you not get confuse on if the drawing is an item or just blank space.

The dark area helped me determine the negative space. 

C.  It help an artist to see in negative space so the artist would get distracted by the empty space before the object itself.

D. Seeing in negative space enhance drawings because it make it seems more realistic.

Negative space is the opposite of an object that is drawn. It is all the space that is around your drawing. For example if you draw a lamp all the negative space is around the lamp.

In my stool drawing I found negative space where there wasn’t any stool. For example, I found negative space between the legs of the stool. The rest of the negative space was basically in the background of the stools. In my cut out, all the negative space was found in all the light areas of the picture.

Negative space helps artist draw the shapes for each drawing. I do think it enhances drawings because it makes positive space stand out. Also I think it looks cooler.

• Who did I speak with and why did I choose that person?
  I spoke with Angel Cares. He's 22 years old and he lives in Chile. I chose to speak with him because he seemed nice and I liked his name.
• What did you learn about them? What did you learn from them?
  I learned that he is studying psychology in college and that he's been in college for 4 years now. 
• How did this interaction help you move towards achieving your personal goal?
  It helped me move towards my achievements because I didn't expect for him & I to talk about college. He asked me a lot of questions, which I thought was cool because I wasn't doing all the work. 
• What specifically did you do well according to your goals/expectations?
  I think I did pretty well with asking questions that wasn't so boring. That's what random is all about.
• What specifically do you need to improve on? 
  I need to improve on my long sentences. Making sure that it sounds right.

• Who did I speak with and why did I choose that person?
  I spoke with a man named Sergio and he was a native spanish speaker. This man invited me to private chat and I asked him if I could ask him questions for a class of mine. He was very polite and accepted. 

• What did you learn about them? What did you learn from them?
  I learned he was from spain. I asked about what kind of music was popular and what was on the radio. He told me what kind of music he listened to. He said he liked jazz and classical music.  

• How did this interaction help you move towards achieving your personal goal?
  It helped me understand that is spain, they listen to the same types of music we do, only the artists are speaking spanish.

• What specifically did you do well according to your goals/expectations?
  I found very good answers to what types of music are popular in spain. I think it was good because he helped me understand that they don't only listen to flamenco or chahca or any other stereotypical spanish music. 

• What specifically do you need to improve on? (Quote specific things you said or did and what you would have done or said if you could do it again)rc
  I wish I had asked more questions about the culture and not specifically to Sergio. 
  
  
  

B: In my cut out I found the negative space in everything I didn't cut out. So the construction paper that never got cut, was on the left side positive space and on the left side negative. In the sketch above, the negative space was pretty much everything sketched and scribbled around the objects. But the white spaces, the object outlines, were the positive spaces.

C. Seeing negative space as an artist really helps the artist draw a more accurate and precise drawing of the object they are drawing because they not only take in mind what the object in and what are the details on the object but also the details around the object. 

D. Yes. As I said in part C it really helps because, let's say, you are drawing a cup. You think of a regular glass cup as a cylinder. But if you take into account the things around the cup it might actually seem like a basic cylinder to you. It will then become a more detailed "cylinder" or in this case, a more detailed cup or a more ACCURATE AND PRECISE cup. 

What is negative space? Lets say you were viewing a building, and you were drawing the building. What would you usually do? You would draw the space that the building occupy’s. The space that you normally leave blank would be the negative space, the space that has nothing in it. That space is the negative space.

In the cut out drawing I did. I took the one half of the bird print out, and I would trace each part on the green piece of paper, and I would equally balance the green cut outs on each side of the black background. It is hard for me to explain it so if you take a look at the drawing, try to see what it is that I did because I cannot put it into words.

I found the negative space in the stool drawings by examining the objects and determining which space would I normally draw, and what space I would normally leave blank. Then I would draw in the space I would normally leave blank, and leave blank the space I would normally fill in.

For an artist, if you see negative space, you see more of the picture than is you were just looking at the positive space. It can help you make a much better drawing than previously before.

Seeing negative space can enhance drawings if you know how to use it properly. It can make objects stand out if you want them to. It is a very useful tool.

B. In my cut out, I found the negative space by cutting out the objects, and then pasting them on one side, while a pasted the left over parts on the other side. For my drawing I simply drew the air, or the things that weren't there.

C. It helps artists to see in negative space because it helps with depth, and the outline of the drawing. It helps the artist create a clearer picture of their subject. 

D. Seeing in negative spaces drawings because it adds definition, depth, and clarity to the piece
