Negative Space

1) Negative space is the area around the main point of an image, it is the space around an object.

2) I found negative space around the subject and the subject itself. Half of my cutout the pink was the subject and the other half the pink was the surrounding area of the subject.

3) It helps define boundaries to see the shapes you are drawing. It will make a silhouette of the main point.

4) Negative space does enhance the drawing because it it makes your eye concentrate more on the drawing because you try to find the subject.

Printmaking

Printmaking

Printmaking is the process of creating pictures or prints from specific blocks or plates usually on paper. It is very important because is has allowed for many different artists to find their place and passion in this art form. Printmaking has also integrated itself into modern culture for example grafitti, which is actually a form of printmaking.

In this picture you see a mystic man - or something chilling with four arms with a background of leaves. The first thing I notice is the beautiful contrast between the dark parts of the picture and the light parts that ultimately create it. The picture has some realistic elements the arms, hands, and leaves that are then complemented with by the abstractness of the four hands and the face and mouth. I think the painting is about a human rising to a level about that like godlike or something. I think the painting is okay because although it is interesting you can't really tell what's happening

Negative/Positive Space- cut out

For the image that I cut out and put together I was trying to create positive and negative space. As you can see on the right side black is being used to create negative space. The slight pink is positive because it's the lighter shade. On the other hand, on the left pink is being used more creating more positive space. To summarize, the left side has more positive space because there is more pink; the right side has more negative space because it has more black.
Positive and negative space helps artist because it creates contrast. The darker shade adds detail and depth. Without detail you wouldn't be able to tell what the image is. It enhances the image because if you mess up it would very noticeable. In my image you can tell that it's not as neat/clean, so it's important to take your time cutting.

Negative Space

Negative space is the space around the primary picture. If there were something drawn all of the space around it would be the negative space. I found negative space anywhere but where the tree was. The tree was in the picture and all the other colors were negative space. It helps an artist to realize how much space you have for your picture and how the negative space will make the picture look. If the negative space has a peculiar space compared to the picture then it could disengage the observer and vice versa. For me it doesn’t really enhance my drawing. I don’t know how to speak about other artist, but for me it only help me realize how much space I have on the paper to draw the picture.

MP1 Art Blog and Artist's Statement

Relief printing is different from other forms of printmaking. Relief printing is when the surface is sticking out of the block or plate is inked. Printmaking is then the pictures are made by printing it from plates or blocks. Intaglio is when the design is engraved into a material. The invention of printmaking was revolutionary. There is different processes for printmaking.

Artists are finding and using new techniques of printmaking. Graffiti is also a form of printmaking. Printmaking is a basically moving a picture onto a paper, stone, or wood. There are many ways for printmaking that artists use for their pictures. Printmaking is important because it's an easier way to many many copies of a picture. If we didn't have printmaking, it would take a long time to making another picture or something and it would also be hard to do it too.

I liked this picture and chose it because the colors of the black and the pinkish red stood out to me. I notice that both the color has a nice mix to it and blends together. It is also a dark and a light color and it matches very well with each other. I wonder if they added another light color to it would it bring out the picture more or not. What if they added all the colors onto the painting and overlapping it on top of each other?

Negative Space

Negative Space
Negative Space
Negative space is basically the empty space in a picture. For example, in the image above if you only focus on the left, then the negative space is grey. But, if you focus on the right then it's the opposite because the grey parts are the parts creating the image. When I cut the image out I kept all the pieces. I separated them so that they would be like mirror images or opposites. For example, when I cut out the house I kept the piece that had an outline of the house so that I could paste it on the opposite side. It helps an artist to see the negative space because it helps to create the image and it's like emphasising the piece in art form by using space. I feel like only viewing it in negative space is better. This is because it's more straight forward and it's less confusing.

Negative and Positive Space-Carlos De Jesus

Negative and Positive is and art style that must artist use. The negative space is what focuses on the background while positive is the opposite and focus more on the picture. In the picture down below is my attempt at negative and positive space but a bit different. As you can see on the left side the orange is the negative space while on the right the orange is the positive space. Negative space, in my opinion at least, it's really important for an artist to see and understand because then the artist can know how to contrast their background with their main picture and that can just show make the art piece even better than before making it so that the drawing becomes enhance in a way

Printmaking

Printmaking originated in China after paper was made. It's basically using different techniques to print some form of art. There's different ways of making it such as intaglio, lithography, and serigraphy. Intaglio is when you use wood and carve into it to create the image you want. Lithography is when you use a stone and carved into it, but this was mainly used for writing text. Serigraphy is when you use polyester and stencil. It was a new way to show art. This is what made it revolutionary. People became famous and well known by using this art. These people include Van Gogh, Edouard Manet, and Edgar Degas.Their art inspired many others to make their own techniques.

The image shown below was made by Jeremy Moore. The first thing I noticed were the different shades of black. It was interesting to see how he used a slight hint of gray and some black to show details in his face. The contrast between the white and black really gives a dark effect without having to much black in it. I wondered how he made it darker in some areas while still having it light in others. I also wondered how this print might've changed if more colors were added. Overall, the print really stuck out to me and it was a very unique way of using the 2 colors.

School's are Depression Encouragers

School’s are Depression Encouragers

Depression is a more intense feeling of sadness. Along with this comes feeling hopeless, anger and frustration which lasts for longer than just a day. It lasts for weeks, months, or longer. These things make it hard for teens to function as normally as they would naturally. Approximately 20 percent of teens will experience depression before they reach adulthood. Between 10 and 15 percent of teenagers go through symptoms of depression. Having this, even increases teen’s risks for attempting suicide. Depression increases in teens lives because of school's strict expectations of them.

Depression can affect teen’s performance at school because of the unrealistic expectations school’s have for them. School’s expect every student no matter what their situation is to attend everyday and do their work on time consistently. This causes grades to drop because this teen may find it hard to concentrate and to stay on top of their school work because of the many factors the teen may be experiencing. This includes high or worsening stress levels, restlessness or agitation, or having a lack of enthusiasm, energy or motivation. Being in a school setting where students are getting homework most days out of the week from multiple classes can be really hard on a student that is going through these types of mental issues on a daily basis.

Another challenge that depressed teens are facing in schools are teachers thinking that a teen is not trying in class. This is happening because the attitude the student could be expressing is not adequate representation that the teacher is expecting. The teen could be experiencing withdrawal from activities and other school work. The student can not help that he or she is feeling this way though if they are not receiving the help and care that they need, that is why it is a problem. Teachers need to recognize students that are going through depression and need to make sure that they do not make their lives a lot more difficult.

Peers may think that a particular teen going through depression is too negative and can start giving them a hard time when doing class work assignments. This happens because a symptom of depression in teens is expressing feelings with more hostility. A teen can begin to act in a more aggressive or risk-taking manner. It is difficult for a depressed teen to regulate their mood and emotional responses naturally. So this is why it is so important to have awareness in school, so that there is not this conflict between students. This will be a start of a much healthier environment.

Depression is a serious issue that needs to be treated and respected by school officials. School’s need to create a healthy environment for depressed teens because if depression is left untreated, the issues students face will increase greatly. The symptoms can result in a life threatening situation, and many other bad scenarios. Therefore the school providing therapy or other forms of help of that nature, will be extremely helpful for the many teens that go through this struggle in life.

This is my best possible 2fer because I feel that my thesis is the most arguable out of all the thesis' I have ever had. I think this specific argument is unique as well. When people write about depression, they do not usually blame it on the school for encouraging it. I think I chose to include my sources wisely, making my content level of the 2fer adequate. I know that my grammar is really good, and I think my title was good too because it grasps the audiences attention.

Negative space cut out

Now this is definitely not the best example but, if I did anything good is the inside out of the tree to the outside of the tree. I needed to learn how to make sure I understand the negative space because when I was cutting this it was wrong. All the red negative space on the left should be the positive space on the right. Also negative space is the space that isn't being used. It helps a artists to use negative space because unlike me a artist has the power to see in a perspective that no one usually views in, so the artists uses that to his advantage to purposely make you see one thing rather than another. Also negative space can enhance your drawing because if you see the other drawings you can make nice art that is appealing.

Negative Positive Space Owl

FullSizeRender (24)
FullSizeRender (24)

A. What is negative space (explain this concept to a fourth grader that has never heard of it)

Negative space is the area that is surrounding the object focused in the drawling. Over all  the non object in an image. So whatever space makes up the objects, negative space is the space on the paper that isn't involved with the object.

B. Explain how you found negative space in your cut out?

You can find negative space in my cut out with the area that isn't making up the owl. The green on the left side is presented as the positive space while the brown in the back is the negative and same goes with the right side.

C. Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

Artist knowledge the space that isn't relevant to the object is actually as just important as the object in the image its self. Although the negative space doesn't play a dominant role in the image, it plays an important role by outlining and defining the positive space of the object the person who is viewing the image.

D. Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?

Yes, art does enhance drawing. It creates almost a balanced illusion for the viewer of the positive and negative space. The negative space issued to bring out the positive so that our eyes focus on what's important to the picture.

Negative Space

Negative Space is the space around and inside an image. Negative Space is the boundary or where positive space starts. Sometimes artist use this negative space to highlight important or interesting shapes that negative space can form.

In my cut out above I found negative space when I was cutting out the shape and the actual figure. The space outside and the rest also came along with it. When you took away the negative space and just had the cut out it made it bland but when you added the negative space back in it added to the drawing.

Seeing negative Space helps artists because it helps them see unique shapes that negative space forms. For example in my cut out when I sprayed the negative space from the actual image I got to see different shapes that helped the image come together as one.

Seeing negative space does help enhance the drawing. It helps art pop out . Whether it's creating an illusion or enhancing the focusing point of the picture , negative space serves as tool to highlight detail.

Gen Z

My project is about Generation Z and the story behind it. Generation Z was born in between 1990-95 to 2000-10. Gen Z is one of the most confusing and muddled generations in history so far, and i’m here to untangle this story.

Part 1

What is Gen Z.

Gen Z has one of the most insane and confusing stories in modern history (so far). This story is important because this is the story of me. But before we get into that story, what exactly is Gen Z. While Gen Z has no real solid data on it, there is a basic consensus on what Gen Z is like. Gen Z has a very short attention span, they are great multi-taskers, very entrepreneurial, and they value individuality. This is what the typical Gen Z person is like. The average age range of your typical Gen Z Person is 7-21.

NEGATIVE SPACE CUT OUT

A. What is negative space (explain this concept to a fourth grader that has never heard of it)

Negative space is an art form that uses the space in and around an object. This means either the space inside an object will either be light or dark. If it is light, then the area around it will be dark. If the object is dark, the area around it will be light. Creating two different versions of the same image that join together.

B. Explain how you found negative space in your cut out?

You can see negative space in my cut out because of the contrast of the two sides. The left side’s border is green while the inside is red. On the right side the inside is green while the outside is red. This makes them opposites from one another, meaning my image has found negative space.

C. Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

It can create very cool contrast from one side of an image to another. Thus creating a unique and professional piece. Especially since it is geometric and aesthetically pleasing. With enough work you can create something amazing, and maybe even museum worthy. Or you can create nice refrigerator art.

D. Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?

Yes because it makes either the inside of outside of an image pop out from the rest of the picture. It shows two different worlds of the same drawing in the same frame . Creating a one of a kind art piece that looks amazing. Both sides make the other stand out. As I hope you see in the image I created.

Negative/Positive Space cut out

In art negative space is the space around and between of an image. Negative space is the empty or open space around an image. In my cut out the tree is brown on the green background and the other half of the tree is green on the brown cut out. The negative space is the background. When you see negative space it can help you focus on one thing. Yes I do see negative space. It's because I was able to focus on thing.

I tried/ Negative, Positive Reflection

IMG_0875
IMG_0875
So today I will explain what is negative space. Negative space is mostly what brings out the subject in your picture. Its when you use a dark color around a light cat so it will stand out. For my house collage I chose the outside of the house to be the negative space because when I glue it together it will fit great. But sadly for my collage I messed up but learned a lesson which is to think your process. I chose the outside because you can get the outline of the house. I chose to cut the outline because it will bring any artist to the center which in my case a half of the house. It also enhances my drawling because you can notice all my mistakes sadly because I didn't match it up together but if I did you will see my image clearly.

Sorry for the image I tried

Amelie and the Taming of the Shrew

Amelie is a french film made in 2001 about a strange girl with an affinity for observing and playing with sand. She finds this man who is obsessed with pictures, and she starts pulling strings in order to get with him. She makes an entire scheme including pictures and cryptic messages to get to him. This is similar to Shakespeare’s Taming of the shrew in that Lucentio comes up with a similar scheme that also ends up wor Courtship is portrayed through these pieces of media in time as being all about acting like someone you’re not in order to achieve marital goals.

Negative space darwing

Negative space is the darker space in a picture or drawing.  Positive space is the lighter part in a picture or a drawing.

How I found the negative space in my cut out is by noticing what color is darker and which color is lighter.  Then I cut out the entire picture and put it onto another piece of construction paper.  After that I I looked back at the original picture and peeled away the lighter cutouts and glued the darker ones onto the paper.  Finally I connected the lighter cut outs to the darker ones comparing them to each other.

It helps and artist to see negative space because this allows them to know where to put what kind of lines and how to shade the drawing.

Seeing negative space does enhance a drawing because you get to see it from different point of views

Negative Space Reflection

“Negative space is, quite simply, the space that surrounds an object in a image. Just as important as that object itself, negative space helps to define the boundaries of positive space and brings balance to a composition”. In my picture negative space is the background colors, it allows you to capture it from just one point of view. It allows an artist to just focus on one thing. It enhances drawing because it allows it to just pop out.

Negative Space Drawing Tree-SW

IMG_0699.JPG
In art, negative space is the concept of creating images using the empty area of space. Space can be applied between images or on the outside of images. How I found my negative space in my drawing is viewing the darker part of the picture. When one color is darker than the other, negative space can be seen. Darker colors help artists imagine negative space because it’s easier to tell the darkness/ brightness difference. Seeing in negative space does enhance drawings because using two different brightness colors make the image “pop” making an interesting image.

Negative Space

Negative Space

What is Negative Space?
Negative space is the area in a piece of artwork that isn't taking up space. Its the space around and between the main subject.
How did I find negative space in my cut out.
I knew where to cut the negative space out in the owl picture because of the color. The dark spots in the picture indicated it wasn't apart of the owl.
Why does it help an artist to see negative space? Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not
negative space is a way for an object to pop out more in artwork. It offers a great level of contrast, especially in light and dark colors.

Negative Space Reflection

What is negative space?

Negative is the extra space not being used. If you drew an image and colored it in, the negative space would be what’s not colored in or, if you drew an image and didn’t color it in, but instead colored in the outside, the colored in part would be the negative space.

How did i find the negative space in my cut out?

The positive space is what was cut out, the dark pink and the negative space is the light pink.

Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

It helps you see the symmetry and difference between the two images

Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?

I think it does depending on the image. For the one i did i could clearly see that it was a tree and it looks good. But for others, it might need shading for you to completely understand what the image is.

Negative Drawing Space

1. I see negative space as creating a mirror image. Such as, if I want to have my drawing split in two, half would be light and the other half would be dark. The dark is negative and the light part is positive.

2. The way I found the negative space was looking for the darker shaded portion of the image.

3. Artists seeing in negative space is helpful because you can create images in very different ways and forms. You can have "reverse" drawings with dark on the outside and light in the inside.

4. For me, I think it does enhance drawing. I think this because people always draw positively and seeing it in a negative form shows you can see in different views and can work with things they aren't used to.

Negative space is the space surrounding the main picture. Like if you were to draw something the space outside of the picture is the negative space. I found the negative space in my cut out by outlining the part of the picture that I needed most. All the space I didn't need to make the picture I identified as my negative space. It helps an artist to identify the negative space so they can know what part of the picture they don't need. I think identifying negative space does enhance drawings it makes you see the parts you don't use or focus on most of the time. I think it also makes the picture look cook especially when they are right next to each other.IMG_4130.JPG
