It's 73 degrees outside, yet I'm still cold. Am I sick? I hope not. I don't think I am. I feel good. Actually right now I feel great, probably because I slept in till 9. This day is going by fast. That's good. I usually look forward to going home but not today because I have to do homework.

Rigoberta Menchú es una mujer quien es una parte en un revolución para la gente de su país. Ella escribió un libro que expreso los eventos ocurrió durante la guerra civil. Las Mariposas son los otros pacifistas que escogí. Ambos pacifistas participó en los revoluciones…eran en contra de los dictadores de sus países. Menchú es analfabeto y de Guatemala…Las Mariposas son de La Republica Dominicana y un de las mariposas fue a la universidad de ley. No sé por que Menchú no es incluye en los textos de historia ó en el curriculo. La historia de ella es poderoso...

Rigoberta es una activista para los derechos humanos.
Las Mariposas son las mujeres contra violencía
Ambos luchaban en los revoluciones.
Rigoberta es inalfebeta y una Mariposa fue a la universidad de ley.
Porque Ella no afectó los Estados Unidos, estudiantes no aprenden sobre ella.

    Rigoberta Menchú es un activista de Guatemala. Apoya los indios. Informó el mundo de todo el opresíon en Guatemala.

    Escogí Ghandi. El fue un activista de India quien reunir los Indios para revueltar contra de los Británicos.
  3. ¿Qué tienen en común?
    Los dos apoyan un causa sin violencia.
  4. ¿Cuáles son unas diferencias entre los dos?
    Ghandi fue de India. Tambien fue assasinado. La familia de Rigoberta fue assasinado. Rigoberta exilío a Mexico. 
  5. ¿Por qué crees que no se incluye Menchú en los textos de historia ni en el curriculo?
    Menchú no se incluye en los textos de historia porque ella es un mujer hispanica y muchos de los textos en los Estandos Unidos escribí de hombres blancos.

Day in the Life of a Libyan Girl

Normally a girl in Libya would have a life where she goes to school and then comes home to help her mother cook and clean, but since the war in Libya began that life has changed drastically for children in Libya. They now have to fight to survive. There is no more school, because there is fear they will be shot. It is hard for them to leave their homes at all. Life is definitely turned around for a Libya child since the war.

​For the week of 200 photos/photo editing I went out of order and used the photos from Spring Break. MY family and I went to Chincoteague, VA and at the end of the week I had nearly 1000 pictures so I figured I had a good place to start. Editing the pictures was difficult because I had never used photoshop to do more than color editing and contrast changes. So, I used this week to delve into filters and such. I'm not sure how I feel about some of them but I do like the two of my little sister (the pink-purple one and the one with words).

Cierto v. Falso sobre Rigoberta Menchú

1)    Rigoberta Menchú es maya quiche, uno de los 23 etnias mayas.

2)    Ganó el Premio Nobel de Paz cuando tenía 32 años.

3)    El nombre del libro que escribió es, “Las Venas Abiertas de la América Latina.”

4)    “Ladinos” son los de descendencia europea o mezclada (mixed).

5)    Los indígenas trabajaban en las fincas porque el trabajo no era muy difícil. Las condiciones eran agradables.

6)    Las mujeres quiche se casan (get married) después de graduarse de la universidad.

7)    La militaria asesinó a la familia de Rigoberta y la violó (raped).

8)    Rigoberta se exilió a los Estados Unidos.

9)    Hay personas que dicen que los acontecimientos (events) en su libro son mentiras.

10) Rigoberta ha dejado (has stopped) de trabajar para los derechos humanos de los indígenas. Dice que es demasiado peligroso.

Aprend sobre Guatemala y R. Mench

Aprendí que Guatemala variedad geográficamente, con lagos, volacanos y dos playas costal.  Culturalmente, tiene un pobacion grande de indigenos, como senorita Menchú, y los "blancos," quien tienen la mayoria del poder.  Había tension entre los dos en el pasado, sobre respecto y liberdad cultural.  Rigoberta Mechú habla un de los 22 diolectas en Guatemala, llamada Quiche.

  • ¿Qué aprendiste hoy sobre Guatemala?
    Guatemala es un país con la meyoria de la poblacion esta los indígenas. Guatemala se parace tan Africa, una minoria de la poblacion es blanco.

  • ¿Qué aprendiste sobre Rigoberta Menchu?
    Rigoberta Menchu escribí un libro de su vida y como ella se escapó de la represión del gobierno y como la familia murieron.

a. What went well?
-I think my group's whole process went really well, we all split up the project equally, shared our finding, and helped each other with the different topics as well. And our finished product is also really cool and informative.

b. What did not?
- There really isn't anything that didn't work out well, I think we made our point and we made some good comparisons so people could really understand how big this disaster was. We completed everything that was needed to and the whole process was actually really smooth.

c. What would you do differently next time?
- I might possibly use a different way to visualize the disaster, instead of a slide with words and pictures maybe find another way to express what happened. Maybe even something more creative.

d. Specifically comment on the 10 tips for effective infographics -

I definatly think our inforgraph covered all of these Because it was very clear and informative and easy to understand. Not only did we give some facts but we added pictures so that the people who looked at it could understand what everything looked like and it just gave them a really good visual representation. My favorite part that really sticks out and brings this together, I think, is the part where we compared the amount of sludge to the different places. It really helped people understand the amount of sludge that was there and make a lot of people go "DANG!".  So I think the whole infograph really hits those topics well.
